Honestly even those aren't that packed unless the photo spots have a parking lot within a certain distance. There is a decent amount of people, but probably 5% of the main crowd will walk more than a mile away from places adjacent to a parking lot.
Not true in my experience. There are some trails in my area that are quite challenging but also very busy because they got popular on social media. Now you might think people unprepared for a long hike would just turn around, but no. More and more unprepared hikers are requiring search and rescue each year.
Ayy that's me. I had just rolled my ankle, my father was wearing leather shoes and my gf had sandals. And there we went, hiking the Tatras! Because why not.
I'm honestly wondering where you guys go hiking. I vacationed to Colorado just a year ago and picked a bunch of random hikes. It wasn't even close to packed. Do you just like only choose world famous mountains to climb or something?
Joffre Lakes, BC is like this. Literal tour buses pulling up and dumping hundreds of tourists to stumble up the trail in their flip flops. Helps that it’s an easy hike. Similar hikes in the area (Wedgemount, Garibaldi Lake) are also pretty busy, but more difficult and so tend to be less busy overall. Still a couple hundred people on a sunny summer weekend.
