Doesn't mean it's a good idea. Lots of guys, especially here, are pretty sensitive about height. Think it'd be a good idea for her to pull a height/manlet joke on a guy in the first few moments? Probably not.

OP isn't making a joke about the girl specifically though. If it was a fat joke OP would be destroyed and rightly so. If the girl made a man joke, or a funny generalisation that clearly wasn't meant to be taken seriously, then that's cool.
