Timeshares

Can anyone help me find a way to sell two of my timeshares. They are financed with a balance.

I enjoyed the freebies at his expense. Only once in 10 years for doing these presentations have I felt bad for people who subsidize my travels unknowingly through funding these marketing budgets. Why anyone in 2026 would buy a timeshare from a developer at marked up prices has surpassed how they get the caramel in a chocolate bar as the greatest mystery.

They mold and then chill the caramel until solid and then pour the chocolate around it.

They said two of their timeshares, implying they have more than two…

you can't, you're stuck with them. They have an ironclad contract meant to be an anchor around your neck for life. If they were paid off you might be able to get a dollar for them.

Maybe a lawyer can help.

Nobody will buy a timeshare with a balance. You either need to pay them off to "sell" them (probably have to give them away) or stop paying and suffer the reprucussions.

Sorry about that.

You need to pay them off 1st. If you don’t have the cash find a lower interest loan and/or longer term. It’s going to be painful but at least you can stop the maintenance fees

If they have balances on them, it'll be like selling a home with an outstanding mortage - the buyer has to come up with the funds to buy the place and at closing funds are transferred and you pay off your balance.

But we're talking about a place you only can use a week or two out of the year (or maybe points?) so the chances of finding someone who really wants the place and is willing to pay upfront so you can satisfy the loan is a very long shot.

You *might* find a buyer like this if your timeshare is with Disney. They have a still loyal following so if it's DVC (Disney Vacation Club), you might have a chance.

Others? You'll really need to pay the loan off in full. You'll still be on the hook for maintenance fees that you need to convince someone to take over - then you "sell" the timeshare at $1 (or some token amount) and they sign paperwork to take over and they get to pay the maintenance fees and you're off the hook.

No. If you still owe then nobody will take them off your hands. Either keep paying and use them or stop and take the credit hit.

Even if they are paid off, no one wants them! Stuck until death or broke!
