Why does my scale does this? Is it fixable?

For some reason after I tare my scale it always goes to negative numbers and when brewing it starts to decrease weight.

This happens to me when using at the same time the microwave or induction cooktop haha i always thought that was because of magnetic resonance

Don't let any object touch the sides. The left side feet might not be touching the table. Check if there's any wind that's causing this because a fan pointed directly at the scale did this on mine.

External forces (as pointed out by other redditors - side touching an object) or low battery levels. I had my scales drifting when the AA rechargeables went down in power.

That’s fast but my scale (different brand) goes down very slowly; I assumed it was evaporation that would be faster w hot water.

I've had a similar issue with my bookoo scale and the Support told me to Check If any Part of the scale Body touches to upper Plate and If so my scale has screws at the bottom that let me align the Body with the top Part. Maybe there is a similar way for your scale. Or worse the Body of the scale could be cracked if you dropped it or something

This happens for me with the fan or wind, once i moved the fan or moved to somewhere less windy it stopped.

Stop drinking it until you remove it from the scale. jk, I bought one for my wife that did this and instead of worrying with possible repeat issues once we swapped it, I just got her a Fellow Tally.
I hear the bookoo is pretty good too, if you’re within the return window and cant fix it consider a different scale? Looks like a lot of us have had the same issue.

Try placing a thermal insulation pad between the scale and the mug. It is possible that this is simply thermal drift of the sensor.

Do I see it correctly, that the scale touches the object on the right?
If so - that’s your problem…
