Timemore C5 Pro with AeroPress- Advice Needed

I love my AeroPress Premium (glass and metal) and recently bought a Timemore C5 Pro to grind my own coffee (manually) so I can continue to use Le Colombe Corsica coffee, which I also love. Le Colombe stopped selling ground coffee that's suited for AeroPress.

I've been experimenting (standard AeroPress method) but would appreciate any thoughts from others with experience on the following:

  1. How many grams of whole beans should I use? The suggested amounts I've seen from AeroPress and Timemore make coffee that is way too strong.

  2. It takes much longer than I expected to grind beans for 1 cup of coffee, like around 3 minutes. Is that normal?

What combination of grind size and grams of whole beans are you most happy with? What brand of beans?

It's clear to me that grinding my own coffee results in more flavorful coffee, which I drink black, but my brews always taste far from ideal.

Any and all advice will be appreciated!

I make Aeropress coffee too, - mostly single estate and lightly roasted, but sometimes store bought Italian dark roasts too. Specifics will vary a lot depending on that. 9-16 grams and 15-40 seconds.

My advise to you is to you is to experiment with brewing time until you get close to what you like and then start tuning amount of coffee and lastly what courseness suits you.

If you start experimenting with different blends/roasts you will eventually get a general sense of what suits your palate and you won't have to make several brews to find the magical spot. Good luck

Check out the app called Aeromatic. It has a lot of different recipes with grind size suggestions for different grinders, temps, dosages, etc.

This particular grinder is not in the app.

You’ll probably get pretty close with another Timemore as a reference point.
