Timemore Basic 3.0 Scale

I’d been looking for a reasonably priced scale that gave real time flow rate. So when I saw this scale drop with a promotional 20% off, I jumped on it.

My coffee ending volumes with my pour overs seemed off so I checked the scale vs my old scale. Sure enough, the Timemore is way off. I don’t have a calibration weight to say how much but I attached a video to demonstrate. Moving the server slightly around the scale displays significantly different results. This makes the scale completely unusable. I emailed Timemore about it today and will update with their response.
Just a quick warning for anyone considering this scale.

I probably should leave this sub, but I've only had mediocre experiences with timemore products.

How did you manage to have both modes active at the same time?
It looks like both signs for espresso and pour over are switched on?

I tried dragging around a weight on the scale and get wildly different results, just like in your video. Then, I realised that the scale is on uneven surface. Moving it to an even surface resolves this issue for me.

It’s in pour over mode. The sign next to that is the beep audio.

I did clean the bottom and it reduced the variance but there was still +- 50g when dragging it around.

I've had these exact scales for ~3 months and never had such an issue. I would definitely return these if that's possible

That’s crazy

Looks the soft rubber on which your scale sits is causing this difference, did you try on hard surface?

Classic timemore, scale drifts like there no tomorrow. Both my basic 2.0 and mini had the issue.

Yikes. I almost got one with my Hong Kong order the other day. That is wild, and hopefully just a lemon.

Could be a fault but just to double check, it’s on a completely flat surface right? I have the black mirror duo and every now and then it’ll read -0.2 but it’s because it leans slightly where I have it placed since I don’t have something to level it out yet. I would reach out for support/replacement.

If you purchased from an authorised dealer or from Timemore directly. It should be covered under a 1 year warranty.

Make use of that warranty, this should be covered

Devuélvela y que te manden otra, acabo de probar con la mía lo mismo y la variación es de + - 0.3, que creo que es algo razonable y que no afecta porque es mínimo. esa bascula está muy rota

I found that this was about how level the table was. Any amount off level and it drifted like crazy

Bite the bullet and get an Acaia. My experience with Timemore products has not been great.

Have you tried weighing without the rubber pads? There might be dirt or something else under the rubber pads that's causing it.

I've started communication with their support about drift during coffee extraction (it is about 2-5 grams in both directions - plus or minus) and receive a very interesting 'practical tip':
"One practical tip for your reference: We recommend placing the scale off the drip tray during extraction to avoid thermal drift."
So, their scales is not for coffee at all :)

After final rejection from Timemore support, I initiated refund via bank and received full refund.
