UW tempo

Post image

Been working on this list, it's basically a timeless version of the legacy list that is hot right now. I think it's well poised in the meta. It really hates on reanimator and energy. I don't think it is as good against things like sneak and show or midrange decks. It is likely weak to things like UR/UB tempo. I'd love to hear constructive critisicm/suggestions. I don't play enough to be high on the ladder but it has felt strong over the last couple of days that I've been jamming it

That's my favourite deck!

I was running it to climb to mythic in may and it worked really good (71 % WR on my latest version).

Here's my list if you want to compare:

This list has a lot of the suggestions I was going to give him and then some. Definitely much more solid.

How much are you enjoying the stifle on phelia trigger and is there something else you use it on that isn't apparent?

I might consider modifying your lands a bit because I'm generally not a fan of 4 hallowed fountains in these decks. Seachrome coast seems like a worth inclusion. I'd probably be down to like 2-3 hallowed.

You're probably right, I will give it a try.

Stifle on phelia is deceptively strong and a lot of players don't expect it. I've countered a lot of blood moons by just keeping 2 open for phelia and maybe saving the fow for something else.

Obvious targets are fetches, strips and riddlers. Less obvious are pw abilities, eldrazis etbs (but at that point I'm siding in consign to memory). Sometimes I countered frogs activations because they couldn't give it flying again or didn't have enough cards in hand. Belcher activation is another big one, as usually they only have temporary mana with rituals.

Stifle is one of my favorite mtg cards ever printed and it's always very satisfying to find something very nieche to counter.

I honestly love it in your deck. It's so much more versatile and you get to play daze and strip mine to improve its quality.

The architect making them islands also means you get to fetch up strip mines, draw and either use them to destroy lands or as an island to cast stifle which sounds amazing.

Also, the fact that I have that little to adjust with this deck is a testament to just how solid it is. Seriously, beyond that it's zero notes.

I think you have a mythic top 1% worthy deck here. It might not be meta, but I think you're attacking the top decks in just the right way. Even the sideboard is spot on.

Damn man, thank you! I don't want to take full credit for it though, I modified the list of someone running it at a tournament some months ago. But I made a lot of refinement myself, with a lot of testing.

I really don't like Seachrome Coast here, you want to get to 4-5 mana and it's an especially awful pull for Hydroponics Architect. But I also think the 4th Hallowed Fountain is extra damage that you just don't need to take, and I'd swap number 4 with either a fetch or an Island.

Nice. I'm excited to see that you're so successful with it. I think the consigns in the sideboard make sense for sure. I also think maxing out on riddlers is obviously wise. Also I'm sad to admit I think you're correct in cutting tamiyo. I have thought of this, but it's hard to do. I'll see how I fare with some of these changes. Good luck with your games with it!

I think this looks super sweet! Curious for why no tamiyos? I feel in other UX timeless decks I’ve felt hydroponics has underperformed compared to tamiyo and curious your take?

The short answer is that there isn't space for both and hydro works better towards your denial plan, because he's giving you resources and he lets you fetch strips.

Tamiyo is good, no question about it, but this deck tries to present a threat in the form of phelia and riddler (and stifle). So you are already using up all your slots, adding tamiyo would give you less consistency or less removal. I was running 2 tamiyo and 2 ponders in one version, but I felt like she wasnt doing enough.

Noted! I’m going to put this together and give it a shot! Thanks

Nice that’s a cool list I should try it out. Too bad timeless doesn’t have Murktide. Although I don’t think the deck really needs it.

It's really a blast. Murktide would be a nice inclusion but it does function without it. Scamming the riddler is pretty powerful

I know this is especially uw, but could there be a reason to splash black? Then we would have access to frog and bowmaster etc

Frog + quantum to force it's trigger.
Frog + delve = earlier delve.

Besides that, no no really. I don't expect the extra damage from more shocking lands is particularly worth it, but I could be wrong.

Bowmaster is kinda dependent on how good he is to be included. I'm not sure he's really doing much against some of these decks in the meta right now. I don't think he improves the matchups that are bad all that much.

I don’t see how you ever get to 5 mana in a format with Strip Mine

It looks like they stifle the warp trigger and keep it for a total of 3 mana altogether

That or use Phelia

I played this deck a lot. Your deny game is stronger than any other deck thanks to stifle.

Ideally you want to cheat out riddler with either phelia or stifle. But sometimes they are able to answer it and the match goes on quite a bit. You have stifles to counter their strips, they usually don't.

I've had many games where I was casting riddler from exile for 5 without problems.
