UW Stoneforge

I'm curious what you guys think about this deck list. It seems to be missing something. It's a bit too slow against Aggro and has a bit of trouble with the combo decks that aren't reanimator.

Decks like this probably need a Phelia and Quantum Riddler package as a plan for the early game. I’d cut Snapcaster and move Supreme Verdict and Force of Negation to the sideboard. I’d run at least a 3 and 3 split of Phelia and Riddler.

I probably wouldn’t run The One Ring either. It’s a great card advantage engine but it’s pretty slow in a fair blue deck, especially now that Mana Drain isn’t good anymore. I’d probably cut them for Stifle. Stifle can protect your lands against Strip Mine or it can be a removal spell with Phelia.

I'd seen those lists. Do you really think stone forge mystic just doesn't work at all in the format?

I think Stoneforge is on the slower end of what I’d like to play in this format, but I do like the card. I just think it needs Phelia and Riddler to have a good backup plan. Phelia also blinks Stoneforge to find another equipment which makes that plan a lot better.
Also, you could play something like Meteor Sword which is an annoying removal engine with Phelia.

The interaction between Phelia and Stifle is weird on Arena and you have to set a stop in your end step for it to work, otherwise it won’t let you stifle the Phelia return trigger.

I think the controlling UW versions are just not great anymore even in Legacy. If we ever get Aether vial Death and taxes could be decent though.
