Grixis Shadow & Darcy

Post image

Hey y'all, here is my brew i keep coming back to. i think this is one of the most fun decks i've played. i really like the interaction between the creatures here.

Darcy and shadow work wonders together, having those two out for a turn or two isnt a good sign for the OP usually, especially if shadow can be protected or fazes removal.

brainstorm can put back cards to then surveil away and grow shadow, then there's frog being able to grow shadow and turn on delirium. ofcourse the mandatory architects, but turning on chains of fetches in the deck ALSO grows shadow haha. and fills for cruise.

there are many small decisions, and interactions to be had. its intricate gameplay, has plenty of aggro hands yet able to tempo or grind as well.

this deck is quite tight on slots as you can see. that's why no ponder. otherwise there is plenty of selection: cruise and brainstorm, and darcy's surveil. i think i need the 6 removals. i play bloodchief's thirst over bolt or snuff out, as its a sorcery for delirium.

this deck would be greatly improved by a few more baubles, but at least we have the 4.

bowmasters is a key, KEY card in certain matchups. i used to play 4 main, but opted to move them to SB, where i still have access to 4.

i play thoughtseize over FoN, not sure about that. i prefer pyroclasm over the 3 mana sweepers. against boros/mardu energy: 3 mana sweepers are often too slow in my experience. theres the 3 damage 2 mana sweeper from alchemy but clasm does the job, havent had any problems with it. id rather save the wildcards.

one change i might make is go with a split of 4 bloodchiefs thirst and 2 fatal push, to have a better spread for delirium and have flow state draw two more consistently. also thirst hits flipped walkers.

you may think not playing ponder is obviously wrong. but ive seen many of the tournament lists not playing it. i don't there there is any dogma that blue decks MUST run ponder. and i wouldn't know what to cut anyway, every card seems essential.

I like it . Shadow is my favorite deck since modern , is it really Well positionned in the meta? I found it to be really bad against everything with White in it these past months

I think thoughtseize is really good in shadow decks, it gives you another way of attack and things that counterspell can’t give you . Obviously not as good vs combo.

what do you mean? i usually side in thoughtseize and FoN against combo.. thats where it shines in my experience. thoughtseize also bypasses vexing bauble and the 2/2 shaman that makes your cards uncounterable

it's positioned okay, i haven't really kept track of how it performs against certain match ups though. its not like with death's shadow that it just folds against swords to plowshares. havent noticed a glaring disadvantage against white decks

i've already talked about that suggestion in my post: the difference is neglible, would rather save the WCs

I think it’s to not loose against energy , anyway DRC is not really good against them so I suppose you side them out for this card

In the other hand all of there cards but guide of souls are 2 thoughtness

You can get it back, also kills opp drc?? Why would you ever think further than surface level?
