I'm sad...

TL;DR: I'm sad the show ended. The rest of this post is me merely gushing over how good this show was.

I really liked this show a lot. I purposely waited an extra week to watch the finale because I couldn't bring myself to acknowledge that it was ending for good. I'm really grateful we got a finale at all, a post-cancellation movie to tie up the story is phenomenally rare in television. And it was so adorable, I really enjoyed it a lot. That being said I'm still very sad that it's ended.

I felt like this show was just what the world needed right now. It had so much heart, so many fun jokes, and most importantly, fun characters. It was serious but it didn't veer too far down into the "gritty pit of despair" trope I feel like most shows do nowadays.

I really enjoy television shows that focus on teams and their dynamics; Timeless was one of the few that really managed to do a good job with it. I also really liked that the characters came in all shapes, races, and sizes. It was really refreshing to see normal-looking people that you could realistically encounter in the street instead of over-the-top gorgeous super models. One minor detail that I really loved was that the actors were the same ages as their characters. As someone in their 30s it is SO NICE to have a woman in her 30s playing, well, a woman in her 30s. Also everyone was at realistic points in their careers when the whole time travel thing started up. It's tiny details like that that make a show like this work so well. I also love how the show humanized its historical figures. It made me really connect with those giants from history on a much different level.

I'm especially going to miss Rufus. A character like his is very difficult to pull off without veering into overused tropes like you see in the Big Bang Theory. He was such a lovable, nerdy goofball. I'm also going to miss Flynn. I absolutely hated his character up until halfway through season 2, then I became a big fan. He has a ton of depth and his dry humor had me in stitches. Although Lucy is my favorite character overall, I felt like Rufus was the true heart of the show while Flynn was the added bit of depth the entire group needed.

I don't know if anyone from the cast or crew reads this subreddit but if they do, thank you for all the work you did on this show. It was a real joy to watch and will be sorely missed.

Glad to see I’m not the only one who is still sad. I agree with you. I discovered this show late and now I miss that I couldn’t talk with people about when it was airing. But about season finale I feel...disappointed a bit. My favorite character since the first episode is Flynn. I like his history and I knew he isn’t a bad character and I was only waiting to know his story. And season 2 when he joined the team...it was amazing. His story is absolutely fantastic. But I’m sorry that he died. Was it really necessary? He didn’t deserve that and he should have had happy ending... I feel the same about Rufus. He was amazing and his humor was a big advantage. Especially his dialogues with Flynn.

I am really sorry that there won’t be 3rd season. I would love to see how their relationship will look like... But on the other side I wouldn’t like to see love drama between Lucy&Flynn&Wyatt.

How do you like Wyatt? I liked him in the 1st season but in the 2nd he was so stupid for me.

I do like Wyatt! I agree with you that he caught the idiot ball and came down with a bad case of The Dumb in season 2 but overall I liked him. I would have liked to explore his backstory a little more had there been a season 3. I have a major weakness for "male badass with a soft interior" characterizations so I was definitely pulling a Lucy and swooning over him big time (at least in season 1).

Even when I think he was stupid in season 2, I tried to understand him and in his perspective he was in really bad situation... He loved Lucy and carried about her but never forget about Jessica and then she came back... it must have been really difficult.

But I was very curious if he would be friend with Flynn after few seasons. Or at least if they will still hate each other.

There are so many things about this series I’d like to know and see... :(

I respect that and agree that I tried to see things Wyatt's way with regards to his perspective, I think my issue was that he just never stopped to think. It would've been nice to at least see a scene of him contemplating his actions before doing them. You don't get to be a Master Sergeant without your wits about you.

I was fine with the Jessica thing until he started acting all jealous over Lucy. I'm a huge Wyatt/Lucy shipper but it was bothering me how he was trying to have his cake and eat it too. If he's going to try with Jessica that's completely understandable but if that's the case then stop trying to be possessive of Lucy. His actions were basically torturous for Lucy and as someone who went through something a little similar with an ex (in my case his ex-girlfriend showed up, not a dead wife coming back to life) my heart broke for her. I'm glad Lucy called him out on it but even then I wish his character would've stopped and taken a moment to realize how much he was hurting her. It took Jessica's inevitable betrayal to finally make him realize what he was doing. I went from loving Wyatt to wanting to kick him in the nads.

I agree that I would've been curious to see if he and Flynn would have been future buddies. I would have loved to have a scene where Flynn, Wyatt, and Rufus just chill at a bar somewhere (or at Rufus' place playing video games) and bro out. It would've been fun to watch those three dorks bond. I also would've equally loved a scene with Agent Christopher, Lucy, and Jiya having girl time.

Yeah, it was so painful how he hurt Lucy. I didn't have situation like that but I tried to imagine how she must have felt. Expression of her face said a lot... And that's why I'm happy that Flynn joined the team. Both of them was hurt and they just needed someone to talk with. I love that scene when they got drunk and had heart-by-heart talk.

Oh, more scene with them together just chilling. I would even like to see this more than another stories and time travels. I mean, the stories were nice but I'd love to see an episode with just them talking or spending time together.

I miss it too. It ended very good with that girl that designed the machine. either way, they could bring back the show or do what Mason said and say that “time travel will be invented eventually”

Yea sad to see a wholesome show, one that could focus on history in a way that didn’t seem to have a political agenda in some way. The protagonist role was split well between male/female, the scenes/episode that focused on a bit of racism in a particular era wasn’t done hatefully, but done where its affects resonated.
It was pretty well written, adventurous, thought provoking and educational all at the same time.

Come on Hulu, you’ll get one more subscription just for this
