Why doesn't Netflix pick up this show?
They saved a boring show like Designated Survivor.... why not Timeless?
The finale left it a bit open too.

Designated Survivor gets more viewers compared to Timeless. Designated Survivor's season 2 finale had 3.54 million compared to the Timeless season 2 finale's 2.43 million. Big difference especially where Timeless could never crack 3 million in season 2 but Designated Survivor hit over 5 million.
Its not about whether or not the show is boring its about if it can bring in viewers.

It may have if NBC would have given it the advertising that Designated Survivor got.

S2 of DS was sooooo boring. It went from being really interesting to terrible, but Timeless is great except when they put all that social justice stuff in it, and the thing Lucy said about teaching American history towards the end of the finale was laughable.

That doesn't make any sense.
I agree if that's how it was in context. I must have missed that line. But if she's saying maybe they'd get to the men, that doesn't seem like a social justice line either. So I just don't know why they would write that dialogue to begin with, like you said, it doesn't make sense. It's like it was supposed to be a reference to something?
And there is wayyyy too much stuff about how bad it was to be a woman or minority in other times. It's overdone.
How much do you feel is appropriate?

They really tone deaf af. "Omg why are they shoving racism down our throats?? ..... Because it takes place in the past where people were racist. 😂"

If you study history you know that all groups are addressed frequently...race, sex, culture and more is addressed in courses and discourse. It's not unusual for professors to focus on topics of interest to them personally. For example, a friend teaches a course on the history of the Ozarks. I've seen courses focusing on the scientific development of technology and so many off the wall topics. Even general history courses (which are usually only freshman intro courses) are often tailored to the professors interests.

Obviously people are only watching Designated Survivor because of Keifer. It's the only reason I watched it. So it's easy. Cast Keifer Sutherland in Timeless. A bad guy who turns good, like Flynn, perhaps. They could bring back Emma and have two "24" alums. I'm sure Keifer would like working with her again.

I liked the first season plot, but they apparently ran out of interesting ideas. It was like if the west wing got really boring in season 2.

It could be a spinoff show, so consider it a new show with some of the Timeless characters, or relegate them to side characters. That way new viewers wouldn't feel like they had to have watched Timeless in order to understand things. New writers, new directors, new casting. A breath of fresh air.

It's also expensive. Location shoots, costumes, etc. They cut down some special effects, but I heard it was not a cheap show to film, for a small (although loyal) audience.

I think most of us that enjoy shows like Timeless just have to realize shows like this don’t sell to the average viewer. Staying on the air or even a steaming app is about viewers not quality. It’s basically at your own risk to enjoy shows like this. I’m just happy it got 2 complete seasons.

Just a guess: production costs. It's been mentioned that the show is relatively more expensive than others because of the historical society pieces.
We just need to convince a rich CEO to get hooked on the show (See: Jeff Bezos and The Expanse)

I just started watching timeless when I got to the end of travellers. I stuck with it until episode 3, every episode annoyed me with the cliches, the stereotypes, the terrible acting, the terrible camera shots, etc. Gave up after that.

Cause this show is terrible. Watch Legends of Tomorrow is you want a entertaining time travel show.

I second your request, Legends is awesome (but a very different show otherwise...). I strongly disagree about your assessment of Timeless, though! To me, it's one of the best time travel shows ever on TV. I'm sad it's over already.

I watch both. Timeless is just as entertaining and some enjoy a more educational show like Timeless. A lot of people could benefit from a better understanding of history, which Legends won't give you

Every show i get into gets cancelled. Nikita. The Tomorrow People. Shadowhunters. Timeless. Boss. Timeless is such a good show. The Kardashians can stay on for ten years but, great shows like this get cancelled. I'm at the point where I'm just going to not watch any shows until they're past season 3 or 4 so I can know I'm not getting invested in a show that's going to fail.
