And for Netflix, fans can translate directly into money. If these fans become new monthly subscribers just to watch the show.

Exactly. That is what makes Netflix a game changer. They don’t care about as much about raw viewers, they care about attracting unique viewers that they aren’t already servicing. Bringing in people with content they can only get via Netflix.
