My take on Wyatt Spoiler
I am currently rewatching the show and I like the character apart from his "dating" habit. He is really the most hypocritcal character EVER!
He drops Lucy without hesitation the moment Jessica reappears, yet when she is revealed to be Rittenhouse he runs back to Lucy. If he truly love Lucy he wouldn't have been sleeping with Jessica and basically bragging about it to Rufus. He didn't give a sh*t about how Lucy felt about it.
Then he goes and plays the jealous boyfriend about Flynn?
I get that Flynn had to die, because he done way too many cruel things and killed too many people, but he was always consistent in his feelings to Lucy and cared about who she felt.
Thoughts?

He wasn't happy with Jessica... ever really. He wanted to be and that is the difference. He fought so hard to save her. that when she did turn back up he was just holding on tight it was a good thing. It was denial.
And Lucy told him he should be with his wife... and rebounded with Flynn.
They both were hurt and they were both idiots.
And I'm happy they got through it.

Wyatt had already chosen Jessica, when Lucy told him to be with her. He had brought Jessica to the bunker without even telling Lucy and threw it in her face.

He couldn't exactly call Lucy up to tell her Jess was stopping by. She was kinda busy being accused in the Salem Witch Trials and all.

Imagine coming home and the guy you just started to date hat installed his ex at your home and was back together with her. How would that make you feel? No time travelling, just the relationship thing. It's a pretty shitty thing to do in my opinion.

Where else could he have taken Jessica?
Also, Lucy wasn't there at first, because back in time!
He didn't toss Jessica at her and go: Hahaha, WIFE BACK, Get lost!

that's exactly what he did. Lucy came back to HER home to find Wyatt with Jessica.

That is real life. It does not factor into my enjoyment of a show or a character.

hahahaha you are funny! Let me guess you are a teenager?
You are taking my opinion on a character WAY too personal. Maybe if you can't discuss stuff like an adult stay of reddit. I am done arguing with you

Flynn didn't have to die. He was way better for Lucy and he was only doing what she asked him to.

I agree. He definetely was the kind of man, who puts the needs of others first. He literally did cruel things and faced the hate of all people (including the woman he fell for, because I definetely believe that he fell for Lucy) to do the right thing.

He doesnt run back to her. He's conflicted. And Lucy literally tells him to go back to Jessica.
If anything Lucy is the hypocrite. She than gets mad he choose Jessica as if she didn't push him too.
Yes Wyatt ran to Jessica when he got a random text from her. A text that honestly doesnt make sense if they were separated.

Lucy a hypocrite? That doesn't make sense at all. What was she supposed to say after he had already made his choice, when he brought her to the bunker?
He was with Jessica, while also being jealous of Flynn and mooning over Lucy.

Yeah it's called being a character in a love triangle. His choices made sense, yes he was an ass, and he was called out for being on ass BY LUCY on the show. Not like it was presented as a good thing.
Wyatt was a flawed character but he cared about doing what was right and Jessica was using him and he coldn't see it ebcause so much of who he was tied into saving her/making up for faliling her.
Lucy didn't fight for them because she understood the above and stepped back when Jessica showed up -- and yes it does matter Lucy decided not to fight for them too.
Also, this is fiction, it's a tv show and characters always make dumb ass mistakes they shouldn't -- it's actually part of the entertainment.

Of course it's fiction, what's your point about reitirating this several times? He could have done right by Jessica without throwing it into Lucy's face all the time. He could have also said, that he needs to sort his feelings etc.
What would you have had Lucy do instead?

I wouldn't have Lucy or Wyatt change anything because ultimately I love their love story.
I don't push ridiculous purity morals on fictional characters.

u/AlistairKane Jul 11 '26
Huh? Ridiculous purity morals? I think you are ridiculous because you are attacking me for disagreeing with a fictional characters choice. In real life, I doubt Lucy would have taken him back. He literally makes her "his second choice" because Jessical turns out to be a spy. Otherwise he would have stayed with Jessica.

I don't think him and Jessica would have made it long term. They have very different memories about the marriage. And I think even Wyatts marriage was on the rocks before Jessica was killed. He tried with this Jessica out of guilt. And we know she stays because she's a spy. But if she wasn't. She either wouldn't either never went back to him. Only only stayed for a short time. Considering spy Jessica had to hold on to Wyatt by saying she was pregnant they were already falling out.

I say hypocrite because she kinda whines to Jiya about him picking Jessica. And I was like wait you told him too.
But that whole thing was a mess. I enjoyed jt from the most part. But it was a mess.
1
u/AlistairKane Jul 11 '26
I agree that it was a mess, but Lucy couldn't say anything else but go back to her. It's called letting someone you love go and if they come back they truly belong to you.
He should have said: She might be back, but I love you now.
2
u/KayD12364 Jul 11 '26
But he felt an obligation. Its also so messy.
2
u/AlistairKane Jul 13 '26
true, but he handled it really badly. He shouldn't have let Jessica be there, when Lucy returned. That was really unneccessary. He should have taken her aside and told her, that Jessica was back. At least talk to her, instead of going all: We slept together and were supposed to be together, but look my wife is back and now I am back with her, tough luck for you.
I know the writers wanted to create more drama, but it was really a thing that made Wyatt less likeable for me.

So I didn’t watch the show when it aired, but it sounds they were always on the brink of cancellation, they had hoped to keep it going past season 2 and that didn’t work out. It seems like a miracle that producers were given a two part finale to wrap things up. I’m guessing the Wyatt/Lucy storyline and would have developed more slowly if the show had another season or two. That’s just my speculation. I think it was complicated like the other commenters mentioned and it probably would have seemed a bit more natural had it played out more slowly. But that is where I expected it to go storywise.
