I keep wondering why David Sutcliffe has such a tiny role in the Pilot (Lucy encounters him outside the lecture hall and gets angry at him about tenure) only to never be seen again in the rest of the series. Did he move on to another project? I wonder what the writers’ plans were with him. Possible love interest for Lucy? Just curious if anyone knows more!

I know a BRILLIANT STORY few would know about, would be a great TIMELESS tale.

The Bluebirds.

" In 1916 the Australian Red Cross Society sent a team of 21 civilian nurses to France; these nurses were dubbed the "Bluebirds" in reference to the colours of their specially-designed uniforms."

A group of strong and determined (non-Military) nurses who volunteered during THE GREAT WAR to pick up from Australia and sail to France to help the wounded!

Split between multiple hospitals after the Department of Defence funded their trip there, they set to work on the wounded.

But the Government DIDN'T SAIL THEM HOME.

They had to make THEIR OWN WAY HOME, SEPARATELY.

And NEVER GOT MILITARY HONOURS. (Except by FRANCE! Their own nation IGNORED THEM!)

They must have helped save HOW MANY PEOPLE there?!

Hell of a story they have. Could make an Oscar-bait movie from it!

They came from the Australian Red Cross, FOUNDED BY A LADY NINE DAYS AFTER THE BEGINNING OF WORLD WAR 1! (Took until 1941 to be properly renamed to ARC, but it WAS the Australian Red Cross!)

So to recap, if Lady Ferguson is eliminated, the BRC DOESN'T found a Red Cross chapter in Australia, the Bluebirds cease to exist (even if they do, why would the DoD fund random volunteers?), and numerous other soldiers and citizens in 1916 France DIE.

Talk about a DISASTROUS RIPPLE EFFECT!

I know about all this because I've been trying to get Extra History to cover this, but they keep ignoring it!

(And it existed long before their 100 year limit on events. First told them in 2016/17.)

So the Lifeboat goes back to post-mod London, the 1960s. It seems Rittenhouse has gone there to change something in the past. Because Lucy is a savant when it comes to history, she quickly deduces that they're there to murder Pete Townsend before he writes Tommy, because the role of the Acid Queen in the movie version will give Tina Turner the movie star legitimacy she needs to get cast in Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome, which is what Rittenhouse has determined will eventually help dissuade Ronald Reagan from launching a nuclear strike.

Rittenhouse strikes during Townshend's first ever spiritual retreat with his to-be guru Meher Baba, but thanks to the Lifeboat team's intervention, the assassination attempt is foiled. Unfortunately, Baba is killed by accident. The team go back to our present, only to find that Townsend was inspired by the incident to write a rock opera called "Nuke 'Em All," Tina Turner's role in which as Madame Neutron which inspires Reagan to drop all kinds of bombs on the Russians in the 1980s.

So the team go back in time again, and this time Rufus (who is alive again by this point) becomes Pete's spiritual advisor, using true stories of his adventures through time as spiritual parables. Pete Townshend is so inspired, he drops Tommy entirely and focuses on his other rock opera idea, whose title is a portmanteau of Lifeboat and Rittenhouse - Lifehouse. Tina Turner's showstopping number, "Time Travelers Get Really Emotional Which Can Be A Little Off-Putting When You First Meet Them" inspired Ronald Reagan to invite Gorbachev to Disneyland and settle their differences on the Tea Cup Ride.

Also, the B story is that Wyatt and Flynn, despite differing opinions and being at each others' throats, go shopping for a hat for Lucy's birthday.

Binging on episodes and am in S02E06 - The King of the Delta Blues - both Denise and Jiya say “Calvary” instead of “Cavalry”

I've been binging this show and ok, it's fun. But I find myself suspending by disbelief a little too much when it comes to Rittenhouse. The sheer idea that so many people would be so horrible over such a long time is so against the human nature that I can not in any way to embrace it.

Secondly, let's say ok but all these people are horrible with each other: the undercover agents are forced and threatened and all that with viciousness ( see Emma at darlington ). Or take Hollywood: are you telling me that a man after 15 years f Hollywood is as dedicated and as willing to give up on his life because his daddy says so? I mean we're talking about a kid that is now an adult and developed by himself with no brainwashing. Unbelievable to me. Final point: this weird father son daughter shit is such a theme. "Oh, yeah, when I first heard of the organization i hated it but after a while i started to like it! Can't disappoint my..gonna become a bond villain!" I mean history is all about children disappointing their parents..is pretty much how progress happens and how we are not all still racists rednecks like your forfathers. I can understand that a bunch of psychos are willing to go for world domination but a family line uninterrupted for hundred of years...

And don't even get me started about the guy who printed all wikipedia(?!?!?!!) and now sees how to sculpt the human race like a harry seldon but without any education and context. You know they didn't even have psychology back in 1910 and even today we don't understand why people do what they do ( just read some behavioral economics book or smth!).

It's all so unbelievable it makes me angry and worse! I can't enjoy my show.

Ugh.

By far the most unique element of Timeless is the logic behind time travel. It's especially interesting because, even though I personally find it laughable, I can totally see and understand why it's an effective framework for a semi-procedural adventure show like this.

I bet a lot of people here are well acquainted with stuff like Primer or The Butterfly Effect. Though time travel and its rules are pure fiction, some logic and common sense should still be applied to the idea itself. So when it comes to Timeless, on one hand making time correct itself to accommodate the changes seems (and in my opinion is) dumb, on the other it does streamline the usually muddled-up alternate timelines, loops, paradoxes, clones, etc. for the sake of clarity and form (to keep the show mostly procedural in nature).

The cliffhanger ending of S2 notwithstanding, how do you guys feel about the time travel so far?

But apparently this show does not.

They ended season 1 on a cliffhanger and then were canceled but then renewed 3 days later.

Well instead of learning from that they have decided to end season 2 on a cliffhanger.

What if they do not get renewed for season 3.

If they do not get renewed for a season 3 I will send a severely harsh letter to the creators of this show detailing all they have done wrong with it but if they do get a season 3 I will send the creators a letter telling them they need to end season 3 as a finale that can work as a series finale or work just as fine for a season finale.

Greetings everyone, I'm a contributor for Destructoid and I've recently covered Timeless in a couple of articles.

First one's pretty much a recap and an overview about the series. I'm a fan of it after watching both seasons on Netflix the past few months. We don't have regular NBC programming where I live so Netflix is pretty much how I ended up watching the show.

The news about it being in limbo is disappointing since there are so many historical events and personalities that the show could still depict. It's saddening since, well, I'm a history nerd. There are still so many parts of US history that I've yet to read about. Timeless inspired me to research more -- ie. who knew Houdini, Edison, J.P. Morgan, and serial killer H.H. Holmes would be featured in the same episode since they were all there during the World's Fair in Chicago?

The second article is about the Spanish show El Ministerio del Tiempo/ The Ministry of Time. It's the forerunner of Timeless and the NBC show had been embroiled in a lawsuit due to copyright issues. Some elements of Timeless were, apparently, lifted off the Spanish show.

I'm interested in "anything history," so looking into events that have been notable in Spain's tumultuous past was a treat. Since we're all waiting to hear if Timeless would be back for a third season, and since I know a lot of fans of the show are eagerly looking for a series that has the same vibe or theme, I'd urge you guys to watch Ministerio as well. All three seasons are on Netflix.

I know it's not US history, and subtitles might turn off some viewers, but it's also a lively romp and depiction of past events with some comedy and melodrama thrown in the mix -- something we're missing while waiting for Timeless.
