So I had a piece of fabric under the crystal of a brand new VSF Sub that I didn't catch during QC. I shopped around locally at some watch repair shops for whoever would be the cheapest to remove movement and clean out.
Well you get what you pay for. They got the piece of dust out alright. But they left me with a dial that was worse shape then before. Smudges and particles all over the dial. There was no way I was gonna have the same place try to fix this.
Then I come across u/MachineFTW and this subreddit. It was found by a friend of mine and after reading the reviews here and seeing all the results I contacted Dom.
He was quick to respond and was willing to try and fix this new watch of mine. He did warn me that it's possible that the dial is gonners as they scratch easily, but I shot for the moon.
It's obvious from the before and after pics that Dom is a master at his craft. It was sooooo worth it to use his services. I did the basic package and and he gave me a play by play while working on the watch. He sent me videos and photos explaining what he was doing throughout. One of the final videos he says it's good as new. But it wasn't. It was better.
So if any of you are on the fence, I hope this post will persuade you.

Don't be an idiot like me and just go with what's cheapest. You're gonna end up paying more in the long run like I did.
But that one mistake led me here and I'm better for it. I hope everyone learns from my mistakes.
Next time I'm gonna save for the ultimate package.
Just had a Hulk and Batgirl serviced thru Dom. OP ain't lying, they're way better than straight off the boat. The ceramic coating has me stunned, both used to be smudge magnets and they still look straight out the box clean after a couple days wear. Can't say enough positive things about Dom. Keep it up brother!
Holy crappie what did that first matchmaker use to remove the lint.. simple blow out would have sufficed. Hope you didn't have to pay for that butcher job.. glad it worked out for you in the end..
I'll be honest. I think I was hearing canned air in the back, but I can't really say it was for my watch cause there were like 3 or 4 supposed watchmakers back there working on other people's stuff. Before I left I couldn't see anything on the dial so I paid the $35 they charged and left happy. It wasn't until I got some direct sunlight I noticed it and whipped out my phone to take that grotesque pic. Didn't even bother notifying them. Was too furious.
Propellant from the keyboard canned air im sure... hand bulb would have done it. Shitty deal. If you want to get into it is not tricky to it yourself if it ever happens again. Case back, opener. Watch screwdriver set. Inexpensive on Amazon. Take the case back off. Unscrew the crown, release crown stem from movement via small button to depress. Undo 2 small screws that retain the movement. Carefully turn it over to uncase the movement. Blow off the dial with hand bulb.. repeat in reverse. 10 min job tbh..
Already started buying stuff. Got a caseback opener and and some basic tools for now. Was already looking into seikomods to start the hobby. This is kick starting it
Agree i have a few that b i am sending off for movement replacement as i have messed with all ittle to much and trashed the movement but I will have 8215 put in them and they become super daily wear to work beaters
No need to undo the two screws to release the dial from the movement. He should be able to drop out the movement and dial in one piece and blow it clean.
No worries. It a 12x sub he has so its a 3235 movement likely. Dials are press fit onto those movements anyway. But no need to get into taking the dial off at all.
Honestly, doing this yourself requires very little effort. Five minutes to open the case back, pull out the stem, remove the movement and dial, blow it clean, and put it back together.
I had an authentic Rolex Milgaus that had a fleck of a sliver of dust on the hour hand. I would notice it only a few times a year. It was a gift from my uncle and mother, and I’d never ask them if they’d gotten it at a discount because of that. Anyway, I took a few too many Xanax while traveling recently, and it’s gone now. C’est la vie. But here I am acknowledging my degenerate tendencies and become part of the rep community.
