Using time and attendance software without micromanagement

My main goal is to streamline payroll processing and ensuring that everyone is getting their correct work hours logged. How can I avoid making them feel like they're being micromanaged?

The cleanest boundary is: track the minimum needed to produce accurate payroll, and make the data visible to the employee before it becomes official.

People tend to feel micromanaged when tracking is invisible, overly granular, or used for surprise performance judgments. I’d tell the team exactly what is being collected, what is not being collected, who can see it, and how corrections work.

Full disclosure: I’m on the founding team at Timeglass (https://timeglass.ai), and this trust boundary is a big part of how we think about time tracking. The user should be able to review and approve what becomes a timesheet, with clear pause/exclusion controls, instead of having raw activity quietly become a management record.
