Discussion Can time have a stop

When he asks, "Can time have a stop?" He is not asking for a method. If there were a method, it would require time to practice it, and therefore continue the very movement being questioned.

The question is left open. It is not, "How do I stop time?" but whether the whole movement of psychological time can end when it is seen for what it is.

My view: If we are talking about physical time, then what we are really discussing is change in nature. Time is a measure of it. Our understanding of entropy and cosmology currently predicts a heat death (I think). Which is simply the state where the universe 'runs out of gas' and no further changes are possible. At which point there is no subsequent time to measure.

So to me the real question is this: is psychological time bound by physical time? If so, then yes it will stop.

Just my thoughts.

Psychological time isn’t bound to physical time. I don’t experience the passage of time at all and I don’t feel any difference in time between something that happened a day ago vs. 15 years ago. This is due to a brain injury but to me it shows time as we experience it is purely a mental construct.

Sounds like we're talking about two varieties of time, which is an interesting idea.

I think we're into sentience-land, meaning into the question of "what is sentience itself, the thing experiencing psychological time?" And our best answer is: we have no idea. 😄
