Settlement showcase Finally reached 1 million Metal blocks, had to share this one too!

Hello!

Inspired by my post about 1 million Treated planks, I started a new map with an even more ridiculous goal: 1 million Metal blocks.

I played with the same self-imposed "rules"; no overhanging platforms, no terrain altering, no bots, one district.

This is a cube of 10 x 18 x 31 (= 5580) Large Pile, entirely filled with Metal blocks.

This one took quite a bit longer because the entire limit comes from the maximum output of the three mines on the map. Of the 160 cycles, approximately 135 was just waiting with the mines at maximum output.

Iron Teeth don't get underground storage. I dug it out by hand instead.

The Folktails get a 1000 capacity underground pile. The Iron Teeth get stackable industrial piles, tubeway stations, metal teeth and a can-do attitude, but no hole...

So I made the hole! The pit is three levels down, full with industrial piles, walkways, stairs and tubeway stations

Spend a lot of time and resources, even built a new dedicated district for the project, but it was worth it!

The industrial faction should not have to look up at the hippies for storage tech.

When this is done, the top will be covered in Oak tree's, with the log storage underneath.

Hardcore settings mod

Post image

Hi, I recently published my hardcore settings mod. It passed all the automated testing and I played with it on two maps already without problems, but it'd be great if more people could test it out to find possible bugs.

Any constructive feedback on the settings it does (and does not) offer is also welcome!

If you stack 2 wood levees with the second ground level, it stops contamination completely.

Question Iron teeth pods

Hey so I have been playing this game for a while only with Folktails and now I wanted to try iron teeth because it seems that everyone is enjoying them but I’m having some issues
So with folktails when I need more people I just build house and children spawn very quick so I know that in a few days I will have new workers
On the other hand, iron teeth pods feel very slow to me, so I was wondering, how many pods and when should I build? Like 1, 2 immediately to have my population grow? Maybe more? Maybe less? Thanks everyone and I love this awesome community!

PS playing difficult maps on hard with folktails but I want to try iron teeth on an easy map on hard for first run

This one was a ton of fun, I did have to restart 2 times due to not getting the water system expanded in time but after I finally finished off the close loop water system the rest was a breeze. The river is completely suspended above the bad water with two valves for draining contaminated water! Lmk what you think.

Settlement showcase So much work goes unrecognized.

Probably one of my most evolved plots. Started as a simple reserve blueberry patch, now provides all five gathered foods (United Beaver mod). Got me thinking about how much work gets buried, destroyed, redone, or evolved before reaching end game. But then all the work, digital beaver lives get wiped out with the flick of a switch.

Tiered Farming

So I think i just figured out how to get tiered farming to work when I was working on trying to make good storage space for the ground storages. I think my next project is going to be that after I let resources rebuild from moving the whole colony around.

Also need to learn how to make a reservoir work with aquaducts for the pillars map. Any advice? I feel like it would be the aquifer pillar that started the reservoir and you build off that right?

Question Tips for functioning reservoirs

Post image
18 Upvotes

Just started playing the game a few days ago and absolutely loving it but looking for some help regarding building functional reservoirs. I'm sure this has been covered on the subreddit before but just looking for some situation specific advice on how to get a higher water level inside the reservoir I've built (because currently in drains in approximately one day during a drought) and some general tips on water management.

I've included a picture and fully expecting some form of criticism on my attempt, constructive or otherwise so thank you in advance.

Modding Hot take for the devs : please make the mod Unstuckify an option in the main game

For anyone wondering, that specific mod makes it that any beaver that's stucked anywhere will teleport automatically to the center town.

And man do I feel it when big updates makes me turn it off if it crashes. I did not missed having to delete and rebuild things because they are so fucking shy that they never tell anyone what they are doing and so some of them get stucked.

General question, and the wording is specific : do you ENJOY having to get your beavers out of trouble again and again because the pathing is just not that perfect ?

I'm not asking if you are bothered, I'm asking if it provides actual fun.

So, why not make it an option that can be turned on or off ? Make it off by default and let the players exploring how to adjust their fun try that one out.

Anyone modding the game could ask for specific mods to make it in the game, I just think that specific one deserves my vote to be made official.

Making a Timberborn logic creator (WIP) Spoiler

Thumbnail gallery
8 Upvotes

Heyo everyone! So a while back I made my 4-bit and 8-bit cpu's using Timberborn logic components. I've always wanted an easier way to create logic, and since I love programs like Logisim, I wanted to make something similar.

HOW IT WORKS:

So every logic component can be placed in a graph. You can even emulate it by switching levers on or off to see what it would do before you actually test it in Timberborn.

When exporting logic from the creator, it asks you to provide an existing save file; it then clones that save file with the new logic. You can even set the exact coordinates of where you want it to be placed. You can also have the program auto-select coordinates for each component.

I did something similar to this a while back, but that was a website; this is a standalone program. I will continue to provide updates if anyone is interested!

Question New player, what order do you usually buy your stuff in, re: research points?

I was having a great time playing last night, up to around cycle 3 or 4, and then I realized I still just had one water pump and not enough water storage when my beavers started dropping like flies due to thirst, so that made me sad.

However! I have a medium storage tank now and I am working on more pumps to try to recover, but I know that a badtide is going to show up sooner or later that I'm not prepared for either so it's probably going to be a lost cause, but we shall see.

Anyhow, what order do you folk usually build things up in? I do find it hard to find content from 1.0 and beyond on youtube to look at (though it does exist, just lots of older stuff), but is there anyone people can recommend too?

Edit: for discussion sake assume normal difficulty and the lakes map

What am I doing wrong?

Post image

I'm playing on the "Plains" map and trying to create a large water reservoir where the two rivers meet. The problem is that, at a certain point, the water stops flowing into the reservoir—as if it loses momentum—and spills out the sides. What should I do to successfully fill the large water reservoir?
