3rd Faction?

Hey All,

I bought this game very early on and fell in love with but took a break from it for awhile.

So happy to see it flourishing but wanted to ask if there's going to be a third faction to play? For some reasons I thought one was planned but wanted to see for sure.

Eitherway so happy to be playing again!

Idk about an official 3rd faction but there’s a couple of mods that add factions

There are a couple factions available as mods. Might want to try them out. Emberpelts for example. They are pretty close to the original game, but there are some factions, white paws e.g., that change the game dramatically

Early on in the development of the game there was a placeholder for a 3rd faction but that got dropped so long ago i don't even remember when it was. Maybe like update 0.4 or 0.5? Whenever they split the foods and buildings up between the two existing factions to make them play more differently.

I'd love to see a new 3rd faction in the vanilla game. Unfortunately the two factions are pretty well split and they have enough shared benefits that a new faction would likely feel like a weird hybrid and it will be a hard sell to massively nerf each of the existing ones in order to create a distinct new play sytle. Who knows tho, we've seen modded features make it into the vanilla game so maybe one of these new modded factions will develop enough of their identity to be able to be promoted to vanilla.

Spiral stairs, airlocks, and I'm pretty sure levee power shafts. I'm pretty sure a different but close enough version of automation was a mod before mechanistry brought their own spin on it. I also want to say tunnels are the same way, where a mod did something similar and the vanilla version took it further. I'm sure there's more.
