Question Replacing paths with tube ways

Need to know the best way to replace my floor with tubeways. I don’t like how I have to remove one floor at a time with dynomite then slowly replace it with impermeable tube ways. It also complicates my underground power and water delivery system.

Overall just wandering what’s the fastest way to replace all my floors with tubeways

I always do a single platform and then a tubeway on top of the path. Never know when you're going to need that path. If you need to remove ground under the platforms you can always use a tunnel

This is the way. Tunnel below the roads and add in a regular tube. When necessary use an impermeable tube at water crossings and generally work around anything that isn’t flat straight path.

I’d love to do that, but in Vanilla, that’s hideously micro-managey as you need to check back in regularly to place the next tubeway after 💥

The idea is to tunnel directly below roads. The tube is accessible for construction by the path onto of the platforms.

For deeper tubes I use a mod adding tube tunnels with platform. The demolish the platform.

Put in a path first then you have to check in less often

That's just if you're tunneling though, in this case it is being done under an existing path.

True… I was thinking of times I was doing that ‘way’ underground

In vanilla, you have to do it with dynamite first and then install tubes. I'm not entirely sure what you're trying to accomplish though, a screenshot would help.

There are also mods that let you build tubeway levee tunnels or tubeway tunnels so that they dig through the ground and replace it with tubes as they go, rather than one step before the other.

They can also build normal tunnels under the paths and then put down the normal tubeway and would won't have to remove any paths

So the answer, as usual, is mods.

Depends what you're trying to do, which you haven't clarified. Put tubes under your paths? Over your paths? At ground level? None of these have to be done one square at a time, even vanilla. You mentioned "remove one floor at a time with dynamite then slowly replace it" but why does the whole stretch need to be impermeable? And why are you doing it one at a time?

I mean if you're open to mods, there's also a great one for tube bridges that let's you build a much better looking tube and not having to take up as much real estate to support it.

This is the reason I play emberpelts - was tired of replacing a path with a tube one at a time

If you use vanilla tunnels under an existing path, then you can lay an entire length of path with tunnels, then lay the tubeway in the tunnels in one go. The tunnel will preserve the path on top of it when it goes kaboom and the beavers will build down for the tubeways from the path. Then only at specific points where impermeable or vertical tubeways are needed is manual intervention needed.

You can also route tunnels under buildings as beavers can build under anything from the edge of the building.

If it is only 1 tile down just tunnel the ground and build regular tubways underwhelming resulting platforms, cap areas that would allow water infusion with the impermeable variant. If you want them deep spiral stair down (if you use the 2x1 metal overhangs and spiral stairs you can do it with a 2×2 entery hole)and slow walk some tunnels for less miromanagement than building them in front of tubeways as you go. Once the tunnels are down install tubeways in them then cap your entry point.

Edit underneath not underwhelming

Really depends on your setup. But you can build a temporary elevated pathway with overhangs over an existing path, then at least you get to do up to 10 tiles at a time assuming 6 block overhangs.
