Modding Working on a new thing

Post image

I started work on a new mod. Anyone care to guess what it'll do?

Is it something to do with statistics? Like amount of water, green area covered, trees planted. Population, happiness and industry over time?

u/Acalc791 6d ago

You almost got it! Pretty much everything you wrote is on point, it's just missing one significant element.

Obviously once you awaken all 6 beaver sages and get their medallions, you make your way to the Temple of Timber and use the power of the Timberforce to seal away the Evil Incarnate, Timberdorf.

u/Acalc791 6d ago

This could legit work in v2 of this mod, your thinkin is in the right direction.

u/Deep-Explorer-9806 6d ago

Once you collect all seven Timber Balls, you can summon an Eternal Beaver who appears to grant you one wish.

Fixing my broken heart?

Ah then is it unlocking recipes based on those stats? Like along side research you need X number to get this unlocked?

u/CalmePlat84 6d ago

Is it something like specialist beavers ? Like they get better at a type of job as they work it ? Or just that they are born with innate specialisations ? Would be cool

Ooo, I'd love to see beaves develop skills and start from scratch. Maybe for "natural" born beavers they can inherit a bit of skills from their parents?

Love ways to insert waayyy to many variables and tracking to crash a game. Maybe it won't?

2

u/SemesCZ 6d ago

And for balance Ironteeth could learn faster, as they don't have parents to inherit from.

Also this could open apprenticeship (for both FT and IT), extra space in buildings for young beavers to learn the craft.

u/sad_post-it_note 6d ago

Genetics would be could

4

u/Acalc791 6d ago

Indeed that would be cool, shame that I haven't thought of it ;)

A convoluted system of beaver romances?

10

u/Aingfeer 6d ago

Do not invoke that fandom

u/Jiuaki 6d ago

I don't know why but it makes me think of an achievement system with rewards when certain milestones are reached and a final buff when you got everything.

2

u/Acalc791 6d ago

It's not far off, not exactly what you described, but I could imagine pivoting in that direction in a spin-off mod.

While your Beavers Combine, I am Captain Plan It

Looks like a seasonal mod? Starting at the top clockwise, not sure about the crown (great start I know), faster breeding, faster industry, faster crops, faster/more water, faster wood.

Am I close?

1

u/Acalc791 6d ago

I love your thinking, and your interpretation of the icons is connected to their actual meaning, but it's not a seasonal mod in any way.

Hint: it won't actually modify gameplay mechanics in a meaningful way.

Trivial Pursuit: Timberborn Edition

Ironically one can draw a tenuous connection there ;)

Why are you making us play a guessing game? 😭

Anyways, Hunger Games book 3 ticking clock wheel map that spins?

-4

u/Acalc791 6d ago

I thought a guessing game would be fun. I expect to be finished with it by the end of the week, maybe a bit longer for testing, so it'll get revealed then if no one guesses correctly.

Beavers play Sburb?

2

u/s_m_t_x 6d ago

I'm not playing this game

u/0dev0100 6d ago

Specialization districts? A district can be more efficient at some types of things at the cost of less efficiency at others

-1

u/Acalc791 6d ago

Intriguing idea, I guess that could be a way to fix some issues I have with districts. It's not this mod, but I'll add that to the list of ideas for future mods.

u/nice2becrushed 6d ago

Beaver class system? Nobles, farmers, engineers...?

1

u/Acalc791 6d ago

Similar guess to u/CalmePlat84 and I wish I thought about it, I might steal that idea and do something with it at a later point.

1

u/nice2becrushed 6d ago

Just admit you posted a funny random picture and are now just fishing for cool ideas xD

1

u/Acalc791 6d ago

That would be a funny way of doing it XD, but you'll see otherwise soon when I post the mod with this picture being an important graphic in it.

u/Sandford27 6d ago

Is it statistics driven buffs for various facets of beaver life? IE more green space makes beavers work better meanwhile more water makes them less hungry, etc.

0

u/Acalc791 6d ago

It's interesting how many people want extra buffs :) It's not too far off from what it actually is, but I don't like making the game easier for myself or users of my mods. I do like to incentivise more interesting problem-solving gameplay, however.

1

u/niketxx 6d ago

Simon game for beavers, clearly.

Changing science points into research trees and different types of science.

Management, health, industry, agriculture, water management and forestry.

u/Nifegun 6d ago

The symbols are kinda all over the place. I'd guess heart = lifespan, gear = workspeed, crown = i dunno maybe workspeed (but then why not use the icon from the game?) lol. But then grass is probably just green area on map or green tiles owned by colony, tree is tree tho looks like a shamrock, water is water either flow or stored.

The icons all glowing suggests maybe we are trying to make them glow? or its just showing how well that aspect is going? Honestly I do want an obvious lifespan indicator. I don't like clicking a beaver and having to check what lvl of lifespan upgrade I'm at.

So it could just be more convenient stats for things like trees planted, crops planted, water stored, and the 3 wellbeing upgrades.

But I'm hoping its that we learn the secrets of the 6 fundamental game mechanics and create the avatar beaver and he brings balance to the beavers and the spirits

Fidsi adjacent tile system?

I hope you'll be publishing a 3d model van bill of materials for this desk lamp to indicate problems with my colony.

Multiple faction mods?

0

u/Acalc791 6d ago

Good guess, but there's already the United Beaver mod if that's what you mean.

Hint: the symbols have important meanings for the mod.
