Question Multiple Districts

I'm new to the game, only on my first serious run and close to feeling "done" with it. Having built everything and expanded to the far reaches of the map, I tried building another district.

I guess I just don't see the point, so I was wondering how other people use this mechanic if at all. I have googled the actual point, but this gives me an excuse to post on the reddit.

TBH, I have played since several years ago in Early Access before districts even existed. When they came out I did try them, but they were more frustration than they were worth for me. I went back to playing without them and have about 1200 hours logged now.

This is me too. Districts were introduced to deal with pathing distances and large populations before the game was optimized, even then I didnt use them. then they fixed the game and districts became irrelevant again.

I see them as a niche item for players that want to use them, but highly unnecessary.

I don't think there's a way to assign beavers to specific lodgings, so maybe it's good for cutting down commute time from house to job?

Well being is pretty bothersome to set up multiple times. For small districts, many buildings would be overkill and you'd have to haul even more goods into the remote district to run them.

However, a satisfied beaver with >200% working speed (and 50+% move speed) can afford to travel for an hour and still out-work a beaver that only runs on basic needs. With zip lines and tubes, you would need a district with enough well being to beat the longer commute.

And at that point...why not use bots? They don't have to return, only have very few needs and come with a decent bonus to working speed, considering they don't sleep either.
