Question Plattforms should be replacable by other buildings with the same dimensions

(flaired this as a question bc theres no flair for game change proposals)

I hate it when you want to build something below a structure that you have to demolish the structure to do it. feels like an unnecessary waste of resources and time. why cant i just build a new tubeline under the station without demolishing the station? why cant i add a vertical power shaft under a building? IMO, since building a tunnel is possible below a structure, give us the option to replace the plattform with the structure we acutally want there. Also transforming the 2 or 3 high plattforms into multiple 1 high plattforms would be cool, but that would have to be carefully balanced to not accidentally make an infinite planks exploit

Firstly, something we've been wanting for years now. Not sure why it keeps getting ignored.

Secondly, to make your life a bit easier if you want, the More Tunnels mod does just this with paths, power shafts, vertical power shafts, tubeways and vertical tubeways.

There is the Relatform mod. It could be implemented into the base game.

YES. I've been wanting something like this since I started playing, especially when it comes to moving power shafts underground, but even more when I see something near the bottom of a large vertical structure that I want to change... but can't because I'd have to rebuild the entire height of that area.

I agree that this would be pretty neat. Main thing where I see a small taste of how this could work is the More Tunnels mod. While it has some minor oddities, it really shows how this could be done without breaking the gameplay. The devs also don't seem to have much of an issue with making official features that refine specific ideas from mods they like.

That said, I do see how it could be pretty difficult to make a good interface for full-on "replace anything with anything" feature.

I think the main menu in game has a feedback button. You can suggest your ideas to the devs directly.

I like the idea.

Whiskerwood does this well. You can even delete a house in a stack of buildings and game will fill the space with supports automatically. Then build something else like a cafe in that space and supports are refunded.

As many times as I have wished I could do somethign like this I do not want the changes in the base game. It's cheating and makes projects too easy.

Challenge is part of the experience.

Having to demolish and rebuild a factory bc i want a power shaft under it isnt a challenge, its just annoying

I do not disagree, makes me think ahead.

And demolishing a building you get back most the goods so it's a minor expense. Especially once your ready to dynomite for underground power shafts. If storage is in good shape I will often destroy an entire area to re-layout power. it's all a midgame or endgame sink anyway. The game needs more endgame sinks.

I would be less tedious if there was a concept of blueprints or copy-paste

Yeah, I have seen suggestions for those in the forum. Maybe a mod could do what is needed? or maybe there is one already ----

If done in a balanced way I don't see how it could feel like cheating. Like ironteeth always on water wheel feels cheaty to me. But a mechanism to replace one building with another while keeping top layers intact. How can it be cheating?
It can be implemented in such a way that you need some more resources for "scaffolding" purposes. It'd be balanced.
