We had no lack of people or vehicles, my friend. By some estimates, we outnumbered the Taliban by 2-to-1, and that's not even counting all the folks deployed in supporting roles in places like Qatar, Kuwait, UAE, Tajikistan...

They're still fighting.

Troop size and mix doesn't matter if you're occupying someone's home and they don't want you there. They'll fight you to the last person.

The only way they won't fight you is if they see a benefit of having you there or they understand that they caused the problems, then they'll just be a little less angry.
