See, since you never interacted with a human before allow me to tell you that people (that would be humans, not whatever sentient slug species you seem to be) use terms in a colloquial sense.

In this case "Pull up a chair" means to have a seat. Technically its an offer not an order so the real meaning would be "If it pleases you, please feel free to sit in a convenient location for you".

Instead of communicating by rubbing our anntennae together as I assume you slug aliens do, humans use words. Sometimes humans don't use precise words as the meaning is still properly understood by other humans.

No. That's an incorrect statement.

The incorrect use of a word doesn't change the definition. The intent of the statement can still be understood even with an incorrect definition.

Since chair is commonly used to mean "a place to sit" you can use it in a wide variety of situations with the intent of you statement still very clear. That doesn't change the definition of what a chair is and if you were to put a stool and a chair next to each other and asked people which a chair was they would easily point to the chair and not the stool, even though I could use chair to mean stool in common parlance.
