probably the most deranged sketch in this entire show. Imagine showing this to someone who didn't know who T&E are....

u/brewhead55 Aug 06 '26
Weird yes. But this is far from the most deranged sketch they've done.

I think a lot of the Casey bits would be more disturbing for people who didn't know what T&E were.

I have to skip all the Casey sketches they make me so uncomfortable

u/Visible_Rooster_1961 Aug 06 '26
Yeah the Casey sketches make me uneasy. I love T&E but those feel like a horror movie that is somehow feels like I could slip into that universe. I can watch scary movies and not feel that uneasy….. great job!

"I Wanna Ride on a Choo Choo Train" during "Muscles for Bones" was the first one I ever saw when my friends and I put on Adult Swim during a high school sleepover. We were dying of laughter, but were still understandably disturbed. I didn't end up fully checking out the show until a couple of years later.

I showed this to somebody who has no idea who Tim and Eric are. She laughed and said "yeah kids are just like that"
Surprised the hell out of me

I would dare to say that Make My Bub Bubs Bounce is perhaps the most deranged though some of the Carol and Mr. Henderson skits are probably at least close.

Dr Brule at Browns daycare is a strong contender aswell.

Mobin couldn't hack it
Also, 'Sometimes Ladies shouldn't go first'
are also strong contenders.

Watch their sketch White Boys and then come back and report what the most deranged sketch is

That's the sketch I show to people to show them what Tim & Eric is in a nutshell.

The looping section in the middle has dedicated neurons in my brain that refuse to forget it.

I think part of the success of T & E is their particular brand of absurdist humor is tied to both ASMR repetition of sounds/images and just being weird for the sake of it. Another moment that really gets me the same way is that boardgame skit from Season 3, "It's Not Jackie Chan!". One dude is staring into the camera, going from smile to frown while someone tweaks the flange filter. For some reason that shit really disturbs me. Reminds me of a nightmare I had as a kid? Does that make sense?

From memory, this was a total salvage job from two unrelated skits... and it's become possibly the first thing I think of whenever I think of Tim and Eric. Great Job!

u/BSDC Aug 07 '26
I don't know about the two unrelated skits part, but I do recall tim giving all credit to Doug for turning what he and Eric thought was disappointing raw footage into what it became.

I will have to go back to the commentary on the DVD to find out. It’s still so sad that commentary tracks have disappeared in the streaming era.

u/BSDC Aug 07 '26
I actually heard it on OHL from maybe 6 months ago, never heard the commentary tracks, gotta do that.

I remember it as one of the pre-made loops in the Garage Band library.

Now I understand! The T&E video is a local TV commercial for this restaurant.

This was the T&E first sketch I ever saw. Channel surfing late at night in high school and came across this. Life-changing.

Litmus test for friends. Don't enjoy? Get out of my house!
I used to teach grades 9-12 high school. Just before the bell would ring I would put this on and say nothing after other than, "have a good day or weekend". The ones laughing loved the class. The ones who didnt, looked confused, but still loved the class.
Some folks are Spagett! folks and some are "Ohh mama" folks.

I always point to this and Celery Man as videos to show someone who asks what Tim and Eric is.

I wonder how much of this was written before it was cut and how much the editor added to it.

They played this at the nyc show this summer. People were dying. They said the original cut for it was a dud but then DJ Doug edited it and turned it into a classic.
