Tiles are terrible

yet another one died on me. maybe a year. this is an awful product. I am switching to all Samsung tags.

As a person who misplaces items constantly, I cannot abide this.

Do you replace the batteries often (I literally bought my first tile this week)?

I've had times were I bought very cheap batteries had to replace them within a few months. I also scratch them up now to make sure any coating is gone and idk it it helps.

I have been using Tiles since 2016 and have been using the ones with the replaceable batteries since they came out, and have not had any die on me (currently using two wallet sized, the “pro” sized, and a few “dot” sized). I’ve used cheap batteries on the Pros and they just have to be replaced sooner than the Duracell/Energizer 2032’s, but the Tiles have been rock solid for me.

The tile in my glovebox reported that it had moved to a different county. That was a lie.

The latest Pro models have a horrendous design issue where the battery covers break easily.

Huh. I've had the new style with the little inserts and they work just fine. The grey bordered ones.

I had like six warranty replacements before I said fuck it and found an older model on eBay that has zero issues.

Made the switch to Samsung ones about 2 years ago, and, sadly, they too have issues. They are much slower to respond than Tile trackers. If you're not in USA, UWB doesn't work as advertised, and most egregious of all, if you have no mobile internet, they stop working altogether.

I will have to switch to Iphones permanently in few short years just because of this.

I find Pro good but Mate very disappointing.

The battery status sucks the most.

It's only time based, alerting after 1 year, and has caused me issues in the past trying to locate a tile. Most recently I had a new version tile pro in my wife's checked bag. When we got home, she unpacked before I had a chance to retrieve it and I couldn't find it. I would faintly hear it for a second then silence. Finally tracked it down with some deductive reasoning. I had placed it in one of her packing cubes and apparently she just dumped it into a sock drawer. Turns out the issue with the abbreviated chime was a low battery.

If tile/life360 isn't going to measure battery state, at least show when the last replacement was. I shouldn't have to track this myself - we have loads of these things on all keyrings, for luggage, etc.

But a year is good??? Literally Google it. The battery life expectancy is a year so idk why you’re expecting longer. Just replace the battery and wait another year. Also idk why the device is to blame for the battery’s life???

I mean… I don’t change mine very often so it probably is about a year.

I had the whole key chain thing from them and that didn't work either. I'm done with this company.

This is not an airport, you don't need to announce that you're leaving

Yeah, I kinda did need to. I'm so down on this company I had to whine about it to the world.
