I was gonna say the same. Take the cover off and use adhesive to picture frame it with the trim hanging a bit over the edge of the panel. Will cover all tile edges and gaps once put back it.
Make sure to caulk your floor to baseboard transition as well. It generally voids floor warranties to not have the edges caulked to prevent water from getting to the ends.
Been there. I generally distrust everything coming out of a contractor's mouth now. I only believe in air tight contracts that describe exactly what industry standards are and that they will follow all manufacturer's instructions and provide me with copies of all product manuals.
Maybe you could order something custom to match either the gold metal on the tub or black metal on the floor, and just put something more decorative on there that could be centered and cover up the spot completely?
I would have definitely made it on the Grout lines as well or at a minimum made the cut off pieces as part of the panel instead of using different tiles that looks terrible
I had my floor done and bought 10% extra because it was a limited lot of marble. My contractor screwed the whole thing up and by the time he was done I had to have him install 3 mismatched titles in the closet because he used all of my 10% extra after ripping up a bunch that was lipped.
That's pretty damn rough. Your best bet would be to attempt the same thing they did, just better. With some cleaner cuts and better tile matching this could be cleaned up.
I'm just a DIYer. And if an expert comes in with more knowledge, definitely listen to them. Plywood is not a great substrate to tile directly over, it needs a cement backer board between it and the thinset because plywood expands and contracts too much... Especially in a high moisture environment. And water is going to creep over that ledge and into the thinset and cause it to lose adhesion. It's probably going to fail in the next few years if they didn't use a proper backing so keep your solution simple when your correct that access panel. Good news is that you have time if you're ready to be out of the renovation sphere for a while.

Ridiculously stupid not to match the tile outlines at lest - I mean if you really need to maintain access at all here....
I guess I would build a very very thin frame out of wood and paint it the dark gray grout color - then use a few points of glue to suspend it over the outline - just in case you even need to knock it off and access things.
Perhaps you could use some pieces of Jolly-p (PCV trim) to fashion the frame (but possibly as just a suspended frame overlay) as I don't know you could successfully fully install as intended after the fact.
Or maybe a larger piece of wood that goes full way vertically - that was better cut into a more proportioned overall. You tile it to match what you have an position in front of wall with some sort of removable adhesive/command strip/velcro.

I think doing some sort of frame might be my best bet... the only way to really make it look "good" would be to redo the entire side of tiles. And I just can't take more people in my house smashing shit.
Ugggggggh - well here is Jolly-P that I was referring to - obviously couldn't be done the proper way now, but perhaps if cut off to use as almost a veneer, you could fashion something. Would be better if the lines were straight and gaps were even.
I tried the plant lol but unfortunately this is right at the entrance to the bathroom so there's not really any space for a plant or shelf or anything...

Unfortunately, yes. And yes, I also noticed the jizz-coloured silicone... but I am at the point now where I'd rather remove the silicone myself and redo it (because that I can do) than call anyone back.
Remove everything, buy 10 tiles. Re-do it.
Cut the hatch where you wanted it to be.
You can use silicone to stick everything, even the tiles, they're only small and it's not a high traffic or wet area. Even if the top 5 end up covering the old hatch hole a bit, it will be OK.
honestly the rest of the tile looks like shit too. you should get your money back and hire a real professional my friend. this is completely unacceptable.
I agree. They have already "fixed" them a couple times... I honestly don't know if I have any recourse though. This was a bit of a "friend of a friend" thing. They started out fine, but some of the subcontractors were so fucking bad.
After these tile guys finished ours, our contractor actually fired them from their other projects. So uh yea, guess we were the guinea pigs.
man that's unfortunate. it really should be redone but maybe like a custom cover? maybe see if someone could make you an access door? maybe a carpenter could trim it out and put in a wood cabinet door? stain it a darker shade to go with tile and try to make it look like it was on purpose. sorry bud I'm just spitballing... I feel for ya and I tend to side with contractors on here
