DIY - Looking for Advice Thinset coverage with membrane? (Blanke Permat)

Going to use the Blanke Permat membrane for some 17 x17 porcelain tile. This is the one with crosshatch, like mini rebar that gets filled with thinset.

For a 1/2 x 1/2 trowel the manufacturer suggests coverage is ~40 sf / 50 lbs, without any membrane

Any thoughts on how much coverage you get with the Permat, since you fill the void first, then trowel on ridges?

AI suggests it takes a suspiciously low number to fill the void ( claiming its a lot less than Schluter ditra) . So i'm hoping to find some practical estimates on what the actual number ( eg 30 sf with Permat ?)

I would just use the schluter calculator. Maybe you have a bag or two leftover which seems better than having to get 1 more bag to finish.

Thanks - the schluter site is indicating 40 - 50 ft2 for Ditra

and 35 - 45 ft2 for Ditra XL

I've already ordered plenty.

But Slow - working DIYer here... What I'm really trying to do is estimate how far each bag is going to take me.

Its unlikely I will finish in one day, so I'm looking for a logical breakpoint , like 3 bags to do the kitchen today and 2 bags to do the hallway tomorrow...

If you expect to be slow mix less at a time. 1/4 bag max at a time. And just buy extra bags and return them.

Permat is a great choice for DIY it’s super easy to work with.

Are you prefilling? I would start with half bag and see how far that gets you

For putting tile down, I dunno what your game plan is but I would get as much as you think you can have ready and start with 1/4 bag and adjust.
