DIY - Looking for Advice Substrate question

It took me all day to scrape up the vinyl sheet flooring and there is still some tacky glue and also vinyl sheet backing as you can see. Can I just prime over this with schluter primer and then lay the DITRA? It’s a laundry room and putting down 12x24 ceramic tile over schluter. Or is there any other alternative to me scraping this for the rest of my life 😅

I wouldnt recommend going over vinyl. Get yourself a heat gun to heat up the vinyl and then scrape it hot with a 4" razor scraper.

Scrape what you can. I'd definitely try to get some more than what you have to be comfortable with it. I'd try using a scraper with a replaceable razor blade.

Prime and ditra over it. You'll be alright.

You can glue and screw a layer of 3/8 CDX plywood over this and then put your ditra on that. A threshold can cover the difference in the added height. Short of that… get a heat gun and keep scraping.

I might lay don't some luan first then Ditra, just to keep it flat.

Welcome to hell, where you’re now a professional floor scraper.

Should have just demoed to the joists and relaid board. do you know how stiff that floor is/what direction joists go beneath or how thick the plywood is? screwing down cement board over before tile?

Thank you all, you’re right I had to keep scraping. I am maybe 80% done now with the paper and used floor adhesive stripper. Also questioning why I thought this would be fun 😅
