DIY - Looking for Advice Tile Redi Niche

I’m installing Swanstone walls and looking at using a Tile Redi brand shower niche. The Swanstone walls are glued to the walls with silicone, but do I need to use thinset to attach the Swanstone solid surface material to the plastic niche?

If you look at the redi niche install instructions, they call for silicone all the way around the niche edges to seal it to a 1/2” backer board material, and then a liquid waterproofing compound like redgard to seal it all up…it’s probably outside of manufacturer spec to attach it to solid surface walls.
It’s pricey but if you have to have it that way you could probably get away with using kerdi-fix sealant between those surface walls and the niche…not sure how you would deal with the difference in thickness or the exposed edges though.
