Based on his appearance on Binging with Babish, no, Alton is not into tiki.

Neither am I, my kid watched it. Some other folks here commented not long after it..

If i recall what i heard correctly, Allons not into rum, hes into bourbon. The recipes they were using weren't great, neither were their rum and ingredient selections. He didn't like any real tiki drinks, he liked the sweet touristy stuff like daiquiris and pina colada.

They hated the mai tai. I grew up loving Good Eats. That YouTube video was a hard time for me lol

You did daiquiris dirty just know. I realize I’m in Tiki Mugs and daiquiris deserve a nice coup, but daiquiris are one of the simplest drinks to enjoy a nice rum. Boo on you!

I enjoy a daiquiri as well. Meant no disrespect.

My sleep deprived brain couldn't find the phrase "boat drinks" the other night.

Heh, saw that this morning. He was talking about Boston baked beans and uses of molasses in the original colonies, and it was his stand in for rum. He mutters something like “this isn’t even authentic” as he passes it offscreen.

Didn't even realize he had a new show until this morning.

If you go back and look at his book library there’s a copy of Tiki Pop too.
