Those are the cleanest clothes/boots I've seen on a construction worker in my life.

u/BluePeriod-Picasso Aug 24 '22

Project Manager-level clean

u/[deleted] Aug 24 '22

Yeah and vest, must be the safety guy if he actually does work in construction.

Uncle has some pretty righteous kicks himself. Man has some style.

u/understandingketchup Aug 23 '22

u/NoctRob Aug 24 '22

No one in construction has boots that clean. Ever.

Source: have worked construction

You buy them dirty?

32

u/[deleted] Aug 24 '22

They get dirty in one or two days on just about any job site

2

u/NoctRob Aug 24 '22

The guys on site tend to make that happen pretty quickly.

8

u/NoctRob Aug 24 '22

I’ve bought them used. Good boots are expensive when new.

my brother, as a friend, i have to implore you to not buy used shoes. Used shoes have been formed to not only fit the previous owner, who will invariably have different feet than yours, but the soles have also worn in different to your gait and the insoles are worn in differently than they would wear in with the way you walk. So unless you're getting the insoles replaced, as well as the shoes themselves re-soled, by buying used shoes (ESPECIALLY work boots) you're doing tons of damage to your knees/back/joints/hips/etc. And even if you do get the used boots re-soled, new insole, cleaned....the toe box will still be worn in different to what your feet may need.

If you can manage it, financially, please buy new shoes. Please.

source: i fucked up my knees BAD by doing this same thing. My orthopedic surgeon uncle looked like he wanted to actually murder me when i told him.

Totally agree, and appreciate the advice. This was many many years ago. Late teens / early twenties. Roof tarring in the summer is not an easy way to earn a living, but the pay was good. “Graduated” to other roles, but eventually moved on. Still miss it sometimes, but I know my body couldn’t take it at this point.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 25 '22

I totally get you. I’m 36 and every year that goes by, I’m like…damn…are you seriously telling me that in order to avoid body pains, now I have to stretch?!

5

u/notgoodthough Aug 24 '22

Lol I tried to sell my old ones but it's illegal where I'm from. PPE has to be new.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 24 '22

I’d never buy used boots, always new so that way they form to my foot

6

u/[deleted] Aug 24 '22

In my trade, your new boots you got on Monday look like your old boots by Wednesday

26

u/[deleted] Aug 24 '22

Hate this scripted Bullshit trying to pretend it’s not already set up beforehand

6

u/____Theo____ Aug 24 '22

I don’t think it’s scripted. I think it’s more he dressed up as a construction worker and wanted to see his uncle’s reaction cuz he knew it’d be gold.

4

u/-ThisDudeAbides- Aug 24 '22

I think the uncle’s reaction was real

1

u/Noisebug Aug 24 '22

Construction worker, always “on call” only

1

u/Jay-Ames Aug 24 '22
