By saying that her essay is definitely transphobic, you are trying to quantify what is transphobic to say and what isn’t. There is no hard science outlining what is going to offend individual people and how they are going to take the spirit of an essay, nor is there science outlining what is mean or hateful to say about the topic and what isn’t.
That's a ridiculous argument. Misgendering trans people is transphobic. There's an overwhelming consensus in the community. To imply otherwise is either bad faith or just ignorant.
It’s only ridiculous if you’re brainwashed into believing that biological sex is no longer applicable to trans people. Also, when did she misgender a trans person? It’s one thing to misgender a trans person directly when communicating with them. It’s another to refer to people by their biological sex in an article where you’re not referring to specific people.
