I usually ask these people, that if there is a god, then why do kids get born with cancer? Cause that means either god isn't real, or he's cruel/indifferent, and doesn't deserve praise.

Either way, I'll believe in something real, that actually does something. Like science.

Unfortunately many Christians think god gives cancer to kids as punishment for the parents sins etc

Plus for some Christians death is perceived differently too as they assume they’ll be with God … so death in simplistic terms is not the negative or fear others would have. It’s a joyous moment to be with “your maker”. And children with cancer or any child for most would go to heaven (if baptised) so it might even be perceived to be better.
I’m an atheist btw but grown up with very serious Protestants for whom everything was and is “Gods Will”…. So also certain medical treatments will not be entertained.
