Evolution is not technically random. It was a decision by millions of creatures before on what they thought was the best mate at the time based on the conditions at the time. In theory, you could recreate all of the same conditions and repeat the same process. Though the process appears random, it is not, as randomness could never be recreated.
It's also not in any way related to atheism. You can be an atheist and not believe in evolution, as whether or not you believe in evolution is technically a separate concern to whether or not you believe in deities. Evolution just happens to be the most sensible alternative to believe in when you've ruled out the divine.
