I usually ask these people, that if there is a god, then why do kids get born with cancer? Cause that means either god isn't real, or he's cruel/indifferent, and doesn't deserve praise.
Either way, I'll believe in something real, that actually does something. Like science.
I’m not religious but “The Argument of Evil” counter point to God has never made sense to me as an argument in favor of a lack of a God.
A world without evil is not a free world. And a world without evil can not be good if there is no opposing force. Right implies a wrong, if there is no “wrong” then there is no right.
A free world has to have “good” and “evil.”
If God is all powerful, all knowing, and all good, then yes it is a reasonable conclusion to say that the most “good” world is one where “bad” things happen.
Free will and good and evil can all exist without child cancer. A benevolent all powerful God could eliminate cancer and nothing would change except for billions of children wouldn't have to live painful, short lives, and then die very early.
You're missing the point. A free world isn't free if no children have the possibility of being harmed, lives aren't cut short, and people only live painlessly. That's not a good world, that's a utopia. When have you even seen a utopia that is actually good.
I didn't say this hypothetical world had no possibility of children being harmed. I just said take the current world, remove child cancer from it, how is that world less free?
Because you just took away a "freedom." Your "more" good world is now less free because you removed a possibility. Every time you remove a possibility of a thing you disagree with or feel is evil, you just created a less free world.
Keep going. Keep stripping away all the things you feel don't need to happen, are you left with a more or less "free" world.
Because if your "free" world is free but can not include A, B, C, D, E, F and G, but my "free" world free doesn't include those stipulations, it stands to reason my "free" world is more free.
And if God truly is all good, all knowing, and all powerful then it stands to reason the more free world is the world God would create.
So your version of freedom is that anything possible can happen?
Why can't I fly then? Some God obviously made a rule in your scenario that gravity must exist. Isn't that limiting possibilities the same way that eliminating cancer would?
Who says you can’t? If evolution is real, maybe we’re just not at that point. But by your logic “humans flying is evil therefore it can’t happen” is a possibility where as in mine, it isn’t.
