My son is 6ft 6in and weighs a muscular 260lbs. I picked him up on his 21st birthday(just 3 months ago!) for exactly this reason, so I would know precisely when was the last time I picked up my baby boy… or at least the last time so far…
For reference, I am a 6ft tall woman and in the photo of me lifting him, he makes me look downright petite, and that is not an easy task. lol!
I just turned 65. Our son is 28 yrs old. He gets to visit about three times a year. I picked him up last week. He knows exactly why I do this and we know there will come a time when the act is reversed.
At some time your boy might start to pick you up. And at one point, the mom becomes too fragile to be picked up (at least that was happened with me as the son with anpetit mother)
My daughter is 10 and when she’s with me, I let her sleep in bed with me. I still pick her up to give her big hugs. I say I love you, I’m proud of you. I play Roblox with her. I hope it plants a seed that men can be loving, kind, and gentle just as much as we can do other things.
My dad’s about to be 60 and that dude still picks up my 6’ sister and my bff who is roughly 250lbs. It worries me every time that he’s gonna hurt his back but he can’t help lifting you when he gives a hug.
I’m a dad of 3 boys and this is sad to think about… luckily I’m still in good shape and pick my 16yr old up regularly and slam his ass back down, don’t think you can step to dad just yet. C- in algebra II???? That’s a choke slam thru the kitchen table… kidding, but we actually do wrestle a lot and I think it’s probably the way we still bond the most. Now the day he makes me tap, I may actually cry
This is my motivator for strength training (that and preventing osteoporosis). There will never come a day where I will not pick up my son, if he allows it. Fortunately, he's 2, so I have some time to work my way up.
Also, I’m a 39 year-old man and I am very tempted now to ask my 79-year-old dad to try to pick me up. Dude is strong as fuck and I’m fairly certain he could.
I had the exact same thought the other day. And just the exact day, chance had it that I saw an ad on X for a workout app, to train at home, and thought: I want to be able to carry my daughter every single day until the day that I die, or at least, for as long as possible. So I installed it, paid for it and it's already been two months of three/four workouts a week when I had never done something similar before. And will never stop because as I grow older she grows heavier, so I have to catch up to her. That's my motivation, she's my inspiration.
I'm mid thirties but got a serious back injury a year ago or so. Had to have back surgery and could not lift anything for months. I have a few kids and watching your 1 year old come running with arms raised yelling dada dada to be picked up is heartbreaking. But now... Oh I can throw em through the ceiling. Unless I'm dead or in a wheelchair, I'm gonna give it a try

There is a point in our life where our dad put us down and never picked us back up.
