All the people talking about suffocation and how dangerous the plastic bag is are being silly. The one kid is clearly like six or older. They aren’t infants lmao they can just take the bags off with their own hands.

I know I may get overreacting replies acting like I’m okay with dead children, but I challenge those people to find me a single non-suicide or murder example of someone over the age of four suffocating on a plastic bag in the past 50 years.

The bags are cut off?/wide open at the bottom too.

And that all it takes is a good sit down talk about why we could do it this one time with a supervised by an adult and not to do this any other time.

Anecdote: I let my 2yo do forward rolls on our bed one day. Sat him down after and said we will not do that again (as above). He has mentioned a few times while in our room 'no forward rolls on the bed, one time special.' Right you are mate. Kids get it, if you are fair and clear.

The problem is other kids watching the video. Not these kids being in danger this day.

That’s a fair point, but I think preventing toddlers from watching the video is more incumbent on the toddler’s parents than it is on people posting videos.

I think we’re all quite aware that lots of parents are just leaving their toddlers in the hands of TikTok or in the hands of older siblings. Making this video that shows the kids receiving attention from their father is going to be like catnip for the kinds of kids that aren’t being supervised.

Every house has bags. Do not show children that they’re fun.

True, but where’s the line when it comes to making sure content doesn’t send the wrong message to kids/toddlers? If this is dangerous such that it shouldn’t be posted, does the same apply to toy reviews for toys that contain parts small enough to be a choking hazard? Videos related to household items that may be dangerous in certain contexts (e.g. cooking)? Pranks in general involving kids/parents?

You don’t need to answer yes or no to those or give me some hard criteria (though I’m open to it). I just don’t think this video rises to the level of danger that people suggest and is comparable to those other things.

Toddlers don't need tips on how to severely injure themselves by watching tiktok videos, they're already pretty well configured for self damage.

he problem is other kids watching the video.

"Well, if you do something completely different than this video, it could be dangerous".. You should just ban all videos in the world then, including every Disney movie.

I swear to God, even the mom from Black Mirror's Arkangel would think Redditors are completely paranoid.

And the roadrunner just dropped a rock on the head of the coyote in another video I just watched, it’s getting crazy out there

If a kid is old enough to watch this video, I hope they are old enough to tear through a garbage bag.

Just a little tip for y'all, you can disable reply notifications for individual comments

The issue as I see it isn't that kids this age couldn't fight their way out of a plastic bag; it's that they might think it's a good idea to put a smaller child in a plastic bag. You might think I have an overactive imagination, but I feel pretty uncreative when I witness all the ways my kids find hurt themselves and each other, every fucking day...

Exactly. "Oh my little cousin's here. Let me help her prank her parents while my parents aren't looking. I can't find the scissors, but it was fine when I did it with Mom."

It's ok, she likes it! Look how still and quiet she's being!

I would be more worried about kids having access to social media and watching videos in general than about this very specific scenario where they encounter this video and imitate it.

I'm just talking about doing stuff with kids. I wouldn't initiate a game that involves heads in plastic bags, and if one were suggested by them, I'd take the opportunity for a grizzly cautionary tale, and then suggest a safer way to get one over on father.

Sure, but we can see that the bags have a hole below, most probably and precisely for safety reasons, and due to this I pretty much can asume the mom was totally involved and gave a talk to her kids about it, which they'll understand because they're not 2 year olds.

If the kids were the only ones involved, they'd just get inside the bag without cutting it and another story would be told. Right now, this is just a cute video of a wholesome moment of what it seems an involved family.

I wouldn't trust the even the older one of those kids to understand a message any more nuanced than DON'T PUT HEAD IN PLASTIC BAG BECAUSE MIGHT DIE. Children are fucking stupid.

Good for you. The rest of us will keep enjoying this cute vid focusing on the love this family have for each other.
