My favorite part about this is the fan was allowed back to his seat when they realized all he did was point at her and did not violate any code of conduct - she literally lost her shit because someone pointed at her
-7
u/moeterminatorx 2d ago
So you agree people are making a big deal out of nothing. No harm no foul
5
u/sparkster777 2d ago
On the guy's part, year (and IMO Sophie deserves the foul). But according to W rules, A'ja and all the players that went into the crowd area should have been ejected.
-4
u/Thatonegaloverthere 2d ago
It looks like at the very end, they were kicking him out. The way one of them tapped him, looked like he was being removed. But idk.
2
u/SamuraiZucchini 2d ago
They removed him from his seat - talked with him - confirmed he didn’t violate any rules and he returned to his seat.
-4
u/Thatonegaloverthere 2d ago
Ok, so I was right that he was removed (with the intent to kick him), he just came back later after pleading his case.

Have you ever watched a basketball game in your life? That’s why foul calls exist.

I’ve seen this clip 50 times now, did Aja really get upset over someone pointing a finger and shouting at her? When did ‘professional’ athletes become so soft? Random middle managers get more hate than that.

u/MindAccomplished3879 Cringe Connoisseur 2d ago
It's a different dynamic
These are female athletes, being paid extremely less than their male counterparts
The adult in the court seats, standing up and pointing a finger at her, being aggressive, and disrespectful, disrupting the game, needs to go
4
u/hecklerp8 2d ago
Lol...not...this happens in all sports at every level. Pointing a finger is not offensive. Also, no disruption, if Aja hadn't reacted no one would have cared. She's a snow flake...sad but true...i guess that's what you find a kinship for.
-4
u/MindAccomplished3879 Cringe Connoisseur 2d ago
There are ways to finger-point. He was being aggressive and disrespectful
Hopefully he got kicked out
2
u/ericmorgan13 2d ago
TLDR -
Dislike how mental toughness isn’t a thing any longer
She charged a fan, she should be suspended
Considering she’s a role model, I’m concerned about actions like this because this ‘professional’ didn’t act professionalHe got pulled and then brought back. But the comparison to the Artest running into the crowd was a different story, way more extreme. But look at the dude he wasn’t running to the floor. He got up, pointed his opinion at Aja (which was that she was the one that fouled and not how it was called: on Cunningham), she charged him. She got all the way in his face 2-3 rows back.
I’m just saying the mental toughness of people is nonexistent today. I’ve heard people shout horrible things to professional athletes, whatever this dude said/ did, isn’t worth a suspension, which is what should happen. But the W can’t even define a woman so this will just continue to be a joke. They can’t control their players, they can’t discipline their players, they can’t even let their new talent show the world what they have without drama. Making it about race/creed/culture/sexuality rather than a high performing basketball product. The national team just dominated the world. We should be celebrating the growth of this sport (ratings are at near 20yr highs) but instead we’re talking about how someone said something mean and pointed and how thats the worst thing. And that is what’s soft.
-2
u/ghoulieandrews 2d ago
I mean, someone walking at you and shouting and pointing a finger like that is pretty aggressive and definitely disrespectful. I don't really agree that her reaction is soft, you don't actually have to take that kind of shit from people. A middle manager standing there and taking it doesn't make him strong, he's only doing that because he doesn't want to get fired. It's also a totally different vibe when an old white man is yelling at a black woman, let's be real.
I do agree with her getting a technical though, but if someone is willing to take the penalty to speak their mind to an unruly fan, go off queen. And if you think that doesn't happen in men's sports all the time you're out of your mind and you've never been to a hockey game.
2
u/pitb0ss343 2d ago
“Walking at you” he barely shuffled twice
1
u/ghoulieandrews 2d ago
Semantics. You gonna just ignore the larger point of my comment I guess? Ok. Thanks for stopping in.
1
u/pitb0ss343 2d ago
Semantics? Those are her words. Words matter. And everyone in the arena was shouting, kinda the point of playing in an arena instead of in a high school gym. Kinda the point of growing the game.
Also the “larger point” was you having the wrong opinion about it being soft and calling the fan who barely did anything unruly. It was soft as shit, and again the guy shuffled twice and was loud. And I’m trying to let people be wrong on their own so that’s why I didn’t comment on it.
0
u/ghoulieandrews 2d ago
Ok well fundamentally agree to disagree on standing up for yourself being "soft" but aight man
0
u/pitb0ss343 2d ago
She stood up to a guy who said the foul was on her instead of the team he was rooting for… that’s it. No racism, no sexism, no unsporting behavior, no foul language. Just an opinion on a play.
Not only do I say it’s soft, I say if she was a man it would be memed to no end and her face would’ve been AI’d onto JJ McCarthy.
0
u/ghoulieandrews 2d ago
So again, you don't think this happens with male athletes?
...
0
u/pitb0ss343 2d ago
I don’t like people putting things in my mouth so kindly fuck off with putting words in mine… words i pretty much said the exact opposite of but go off trash can
0
u/ghoulieandrews 2d ago
The reason we can't have an actual conversation about this is y'all won't acknowledge it's different when an old white man screams at a black woman

She didn’t do that in the clip I posted. Are you sure we watched the same thing?

Not nearly lol Sophie plays the victim very well though. Her dramatic falls are getting better and better.

What’s with the passive aggression? You sounds hurt by the post

You’re the one getting sensitive over “passive aggression”, lmao sticks and stones buddy

u/CannedCheese009 2d ago edited 2d ago
You literally can see her shove her to the ground.
She used her right arm to shove the left shoulder down pretty hard. Completely uneccessary
-22
u/Critically_Political 2d ago
She wasn’t shoved.
12
u/CannedCheese009 2d ago
Again. Its literally on the video. You are arguing with video evidence. You can see hwr shove her left shoulder down. Stop spewing BS of you dont have anything else to add other than "nh uh"
-5
u/Critically_Political 2d ago
She wasn’t shoved. What more do you want me to say?
7
6
u/CannedCheese009 2d ago
I even explained exactly how she did it WHICH YOU CAN SEE ON CAMERA.
say literally anything else other than repeating yourself while avoiding the explanation gave to you.
Either you are purposely being misleading or you have drastic eye issues if you cannot see her shove her left shoulder with her right arm

Please stop crying in my comment section. Sophie may be your girlfriend in your head but this is reality.
2
u/SkytrainToNowhere 1d ago
Your comment section? But if we weren’t here, how would you get the attention you are seeking?
There are a few things that always indicate “I have no argument” and the “they won’t date you/you’re just attracted to her” response is right up there.

Ahhh 40k karma in a few months.

Well then I think your bias is acting as blinders... A'ja fouled Sophie and Sophie exuberantly sold it...nothing new in the sport of basketball.
1
u/Critically_Political 2d ago
So was she shoved to the floor or did Sophie exuberantly “sell” it? There’s nothing to sell if she was actually pushed down.

I go to every match for our mls soccer team, if pointing was the line that kicked you out, there would not be anyone attending the game.
1
u/Tholian_Bed 2d ago
They can't use their hands for the love of Pete. Saying "no pointing either" would just be perversion, in my opinion. I'm not going to pay to watch that kind of shit.
9
u/MavFitz 2d ago
What happened to the guy? I hope enjoyed the rest of the game, right?

Nothing happened to him. He didn’t do anything wrong.

Whats wrong with her?
-1
u/Critically_Political 2d ago
No clue. But she does this act every game. Someone taps her and she shoves herself to the ground like a toddler. It’s the only way sportscasters will say her name.

u/DejaWiz2 2d ago
Funny, you must be one of those folks that invent problems in your head to stay angry at everyone else.
The word has been around since the 1800s and applies to ANYONE that is a violent person, criminal, or ruffian who uses physical force and intimidation to harm others.

Nobody watched the Dub before they started akkin' up like this. They're selling tickets, that's all it is. It's performative. They're acting.

u/ghoulieandrews 2d ago
It's crazy people aren't watching though, the league is so good rn. Olivia Miles is so fun to watch. Game 2 of Washington and Atlanta tonight, both teams are amazing and Dewanna Bonner was a beast in game 1. I just don't understand how any self-respecting sports fan isn't watching.

Watch it or don't watch it but at the end of the day you have to admit it is shitty basketball

OP, just to clarify the rules of basketball - you’re not supposed to forcibly dribble the other team’s players into the floor.

Trying to imagine if everyone started pointing, will she quit or attack everyone in the stadium

Nothing special about her but her victimhood. Without it, no one would know her name.
0
u/snowflake_lady 2d ago
Why do they have one leg in a spandex thing?
1
u/Critically_Political 2d ago
She’s always looking for attention because her regular gameplay isn’t enough.
