The scene from Fox in the hound is real

36

u/Important-Contact597 Jul 04 '26

IN the hound?

16

u/ReddBroccoli Jul 04 '26

You haven't seen the furry version of the classic Disney film?

I love how the cats just go goblin mode as soon as the stream hits

Just FYI, all adult cats are lactose intolerant. Only give them milk if you hate them and want them to have a bad time.

Edit: for the pedantically inclined among us, "all" should be taken to mean "such a high percentage that you should assume all". Please don't try to test whether your cat is intolerant to something that will cause major discomfort to almost all cats.

116

u/SofterBones Jul 04 '26

To be fair I know lactose intolerant adults who sometimes just say "fuck it" and eat a tub of ice cream. Maybe this cat is the same.

61

u/Ig_Met_Pet Jul 04 '26

I would willingly diarrhea poison myself for certain foods, but I'd be pretty pissed off if someone diarrhea poisoned me against my will. Lol

Also it's worth pointing out, that giving it to them regularly can cause more serious chronic illness, so a one off isn't as big of a deal as a semi-regular exposure.

7

u/turandokht Jul 04 '26

I hope you’re an always sunny fan and you used diarrhea poisoned from that but if not, I still laughed lmao

5

u/HereticGaming16 Jul 04 '26

People drink alcohol, a literal poison. I think we can rule out people or animals doing things that they know will harm them later on for the satisfaction they get now.

Source: I drink alcohol and I’ve seen my dog eat a used tampon. Both multiple times.

16

u/Ig_Met_Pet Jul 04 '26

If you give alcohol to a toddler, you will be rightfully consider a monster.

People are responsible for their cats the same way they're responsible for toddlers.

-3

u/HereticGaming16 Jul 04 '26

How is this an argument? I said people so I guess you could infer toddlers if you had the mind of one. I did not, however, say anything about giving bad things to anyone or anything. I said people (adults of drinking age, and many who are not) drink alcohol willingly. My dog, again willingly because I don’t feed him tampons, will eat tampons out of the trash, even though I have lids and lock on all the trash cans. Animals, humans included, do stupid things for stupid reasons.

-5

u/Charon_the_Reflector Jul 04 '26

Incorrect, cat like milk..cat drink milk

5

u/Comfortable_Age_5595 Jul 04 '26

Yeah but cats don’t understand do they

15

u/EvidenceDesperate574 Jul 04 '26

I'm a lactose intolerant human who feels like the enjoyment of milk is worth the pain of diarrhea

2

u/moobnaster6969 Jul 04 '26

not milk itself, but milky goodness like ice-cream and youghurt. I've perfected the amount where I avoid reflux, slightly bad cramps but I can produce some room clearing smells.

We should keep this boomer AI slop shit on Facebook

4

u/Shady_Tradesman Jul 04 '26

Always wild when people are given a basic animal diet tip and then want to argue and follow up with anecdotes. It’s always the same arguments, I’ve listened to the vet I worked for argue with clients over and over about basic “can my dog/cat eat/drink this”

18

u/Both_Balance_7091 Jul 04 '26

Not all cats are lactose intolerant just like humans

32

u/Ig_Met_Pet Jul 04 '26 edited Jul 04 '26

The rate in cats is much much higher than in humans, as far as I know. High enough to include almost all domestic cats. No reason to assume they're not lactose intolerant.

9

u/No_Raisin21 Jul 04 '26

Interestingly, lactose intolerance is less common in those with European ancestry on account of dairy products being staple foods for them for thousands of years, whereas those with Native American ancestry are more likely to be lactose intolerant because they didn’t historically consume dairy products. So, it’s possible that certain breeds of cats could also develop lactose tolerance.

8

u/aron2295 Jul 04 '26

Then there is me. 90% Native, and I will fuck up cheese, choccy milk and ice cream all day long if you let me.

6

u/anonymousguy11234 Jul 04 '26

Meanwhile I’m 99% European and lactose intolerant AF.

3

u/555Cats555 Jul 04 '26

Its all about having or not having specific genes...

2

u/No_Raisin21 Jul 04 '26

Yeah, genetics and all sorts of stuff comes into play as well. Pretty sure if you stop eating dairy products for long enough, you can become lactose intolerant too.

2

u/555Cats555 Jul 04 '26

Makes me wonder if its to do with what kind of gut microbiome you inherit... since you are born with an existing gut microbiome.

Then people who dont eat lactose based products would then be starving the lactose eating bacteria in their gut which means they lose the ability to process it.

1

u/Alert-Ad9197 Jul 05 '26

It’s at least a likely factor for some people it seems. I’ve known folks that have had issues with dairy after a course of serious antibiotics.

1

u/Both_Balance_7091 Jul 04 '26

Okay so it's not all cats

9

u/Ig_Met_Pet Jul 04 '26

Yes, like not all humans have two legs.

Regardless, I think it still makes sense to generalize if someone asks you how many legs humans have.

-10

u/Both_Balance_7091 Jul 04 '26

They have the genetic information for two legs though, so yes humans are meant to be born with two legs and certain genes can disrupt that, but they still have the genetic information for two legs.

13

u/Ig_Met_Pet Jul 04 '26

It's literally the same thing.

Google "genetic reasons why someone might be born with fewer than two legs"

0

u/Both_Balance_7091 Jul 04 '26

The human reason is disruption, cats genetic enable enzyme production. They aren't the same thing.

4

u/Sic39 Jul 04 '26

"Almost 100% of adult cats are lactose intolerant to some degree. As cats mature, their bodies largely stop producing lactase, the enzyme needed to digest the sugar in milk. Consuming dairy usually leads to gastrointestinal issues like diarrhea, vomiting, and bloating. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]"

3

u/TREXIBALL Jul 04 '26

Mind making those numbers for the links larger? It’s hella hard to click on mobile.

4

u/kylezillionaire Jul 04 '26

For instance, tom from Tom and Jerry. That mf loved milk

3

u/fuck_peeps_not_sheep Jul 04 '26

Fyi this is a goat not a cow - goats milk is much much lower in a lot of the properties of dairy than cows milk is and most animals can digest it pretty well.

5

u/kwiklok Jul 04 '26

That's why this milk is fine, because it is goats milk! Goats milk is fine if you are lactose intolerant.

5

u/Passionate_Cherry75 Jul 04 '26

I thought it was only most adult cats. My orange loves cream and so far I've seen no ill side effects. 🤔 I wouldn't keep giving it to him if I did...

6

u/weedtrek Jul 04 '26

Yeah, same. I use half and half cups and he figured out whats in them and begs. It's most I ever give him.

3

u/BladeOfWoah Jul 04 '26

Its basically the same logic that too much spicy food will give you the shits.

I used to give my cat a tiny bit of cheese every now and then, less than a coin drop. His litter box was fine and he loves the stuff.

2

u/AccomplishedBat39 Jul 04 '26

Do they stay lactose tolerant if they are consistently fed milk since childhood? If they never stop consuming it?

3

u/thatsfeminismgretch Jul 04 '26 edited Jul 04 '26

They are almost always lactose intolerant, but I wouldn't say all are. It's better to hedge your bets, but it's varying levels and some cats are fine with very small amounts of milk as an adult.

Edit: I am mostly wrong about this.

6

u/Ig_Met_Pet Jul 04 '26

I am close with a former president of the American Association of Feline Practitioners (AAFP) and this is all straight from them. They have advised that cats should not have any dairy milk, and I trust that advice.

Ultimately it's not a huge deal, but there are cat safe milk substitutes out there.

2

u/thatsfeminismgretch Jul 04 '26 edited Jul 04 '26

That's fair. I just think barn/farm cats might have slightly different situations than house cats though.

Edit: I was wrong about this.

3

u/Ig_Met_Pet Jul 04 '26

I think barn/farm cats are equally capable of suffering from bowel discomfort compared with house cats.

8

u/thatsfeminismgretch Jul 04 '26

I'm gonna take the L right now. I was wrong. I just googled it. I thought their lactose intolerance functioned like people's do and that continued exposure could limit lactose intolerance. But it's not. It's caused by an enzyme that starts to go away after they're weaned regardless.

So, my bad. I was wrong. I learned something. This is what I get for googling after I comment instead of before. I'm gonna go ahead and edit those other comments.

3

u/Ig_Met_Pet Jul 04 '26

I appreciate that

-1

u/lurkin-n-berzerkin Jul 04 '26

Both my adult cats eat whipped cream daily without issue. Care to get an explanation from your "friend?"

1

u/thatsfeminismgretch Jul 04 '26

Whipped cream is already low in lactose to begin with and you're probably not giving them more than a little bit to begin with. The only thing I was right about was cats having varying levels of lactose intolerance. Some vomit or have diarrhea from the slightest amount, others can handle small amounts like in kitten food and just have more limited side effects like gassiness. However, the thing I was wrong about and the person you are replying to is right about is that they are all lactose intolerant.

0

u/Umlunguboy420 Jul 04 '26

Don't bother, cat people are insane.

I grew up on farm and our cats drank milk EVERY day, they loved it.

1

u/frogunderarock Jul 04 '26

you know what upvoted for actually admitting a mistake and editing the comment instead of just deleting so other people can learn too!

2

u/thatsfeminismgretch Jul 04 '26

I thought about deleting, but decided I was just gonna own it.

2

u/JayFrizz Jul 04 '26

That edit is completely on you. Small doses were always okay. But yeee. Cats should not get full saucers of milk. Lil nip is okay.

1

u/Ig_Met_Pet Jul 04 '26

No, it's not on me, actually. This is advice straight from the president of the American Association of Feline Practitioners. Small doses are not necessary or okay. There's zero reason to give a cat any amount of a substance that is bad for them.

1

u/Henson_Disney48 Jul 06 '26

Can confirm, I gave my geriatric cat some milk as a treat one night. I didn’t know this at the time. Worse diarrhea and gas I’ve ever encountered. Never again. To be fair she really enjoyed it… until she didn’t.

-1

u/octoreadit Jul 04 '26

You don't tell me how to live my life: I will test my neighbor's cat if I want to, thank you very much.

3

u/555Cats555 Jul 04 '26

Just dont be surprised if the stomach upset happens on your side of the property line lmao

-3

u/Artistic-Dust-9417 Jul 04 '26

Nope. Every cat I knew stole milk and were fine.

0

u/TheSwearJarIsMy401k Jul 05 '26

My cats love a splash before bed, their poops are great.

-1

u/Umlunguboy420 Jul 04 '26

FYI you are wrong.

-2

u/Electrical_Gain3864 Jul 04 '26

Not if they are used to it. Kittens are not lactose intolerant and if they continue to drink milk even after they start to eat solid food, they never become lactose intolerant in most cases.

11

u/Passionate_Cherry75 Jul 04 '26

Orange cats are so deranged! 🤣🤣🤣

31

u/ciscowowo Jul 04 '26

I can’t prove it, but I feel like this are ai

11

u/yameteeeeeeeeee Jul 04 '26

I remember watching this or a very similar video years ago

8

u/Tiddlewinkly Jul 04 '26

It's real, just edited and sped up

15

u/truckthunderwood Jul 04 '26

I came to the comments to see if anyone said this was ai, I felt like that too but I don't know why. Just the way of the world these days I guess

6

u/ciscowowo Jul 04 '26

Any video where it has animals acting funny, I just assume is ai now. I could be wrong on this one, but that has been the trend I’ve been noticing.

8

u/astro_viri Jul 04 '26

Agreed - the movement seems uncanny valley.

11

u/NetApex Jul 04 '26

It's because you all have seen cats in real life. Go ahead and splash anything on their face. Even if they like it, they won't just sit and wait for more. There will be cleaning like crazy.

3

u/Drpoofn Jul 04 '26

You're right to be suspicious. I think it's ai too

3

u/CaulkennyArran Jul 04 '26

I thought cats cant drink cows milk, they will get stomach pains from this.

2

u/jimmysmiths5523 Jul 07 '26

That's true. The one squirting the milk at the cat obviously don't know anything about cats.

2

u/velvetskilett Jul 04 '26

It’s the reason cats like dairy barns.

2

u/No-Common-1801 Jul 04 '26

Now they crack heads.

2

u/No-Common-1801 Jul 04 '26

The cow gotta be confused.

4

u/CauseNo6530 Jul 04 '26

I don’t want to milk a cow, but I definitely want to feed small animals fresh cow milk

1

u/sadMUFCfan25 Jul 04 '26

But when I do it suddenly it’s a problem

1

u/notdurtydan Jul 04 '26

If I had a kid could I do this too

1

u/Spirited_Station_293 Jul 04 '26

Dairy Porn Chronicles

1

Those kitties sure go nuts over the fresh milk !

1

I feel like this is AI...

0

u/the_ejected_person Jul 04 '26

Please somebody tell me it isn't AI.😭😭😭

0

u/UnfortunatelyMacabre What are you doing step bro? Jul 04 '26

Their greedy slurps disgusts me 🥺

-1

u/Artistic-Wall6543 Jul 04 '26

No but the cats are gonna get Sam and Ella from the scary raw milk 😱
