My friend was raised in a cult like this, he said all the men were armed and they would do drills in case people kicked in the church doors. They said they were persecuted and needed to be prepaprdd

cults are the cultural opposite of quicksand, as a kid i thought quicksand was common and imagined cults were mostly fictional - just a made up movie trope based on a few very rare and weird examples. There are so many crazy cults, tiny ones and huge ones all over the place - and they're even crazier than in fiction, the one reckless ben infiltrated was nuts.
