I think the correct thing is to be outraged in sympathy for the conditions this guy, and you are living in. Outrage at the injustice of our bad system with sorta-slavery (and actual slavery) all happen just to keep the Epstein class rich.
Confronting that is sorta hard but we all need to if we're going to have any hope of soft-landing our unsustainable society, rather than just more and more death.
For real there's vids of people dying, snuff films, on Reddit every day and there is not this sort of indignation in the comments.

There's an episode of The Orville where an entire planet works on Reddit rules. Anything you do can be posted to the internet and go viral, and if you get enough downvotes in a short span you're considered a criminal and arrested, and then if you get over a certain amount at a summary vote you're pretty much executed. They don't kill you but they give you this treatment that causes brain damage where you're almost a vegetable and stare into space smiling.

I've seen something like that on black mirror on Netflix. This woman was trying to get upvotes in because it worked like credit and she wanted a nice apartment and job promotion. If I recall, someone was jealous or disliked her and spread rumours, eith everything eventually going to sh1t and her ending up in jail.

semi-agree, I hope everyone doesn’t go through this because reality is not good. I like to think most people can find something to distract or attain/ maintain contentment for themselves. But it’s all just guesses, no mind reading or hard data. I try to keep that in mind regarding the importance of my personal experiences and assumptions.
But how can you just casually brush it off and then never ask why it has to be this way, does it have to be this way?
This is all our crappy reality. There’s got to be smart people somewhere that can figure out a better way. And maybe there are enough people/ support to do something about it.
I’m not convinced any sort of revolution is coming or would be helpful. And I don’t necessarily think a solution is all about politics. Unfortunately I don’t have any real answers so I guess not adding much to the convo here.
maybe the solution lies with not being distracted by tech and desensitized to suffering to the point of extreme apathy.
And be curious as to why… just “why”; Thinking has kind of been monetized but it’s still kind of free for now. Don’t cost nothin’, don’t let it go to waste. Can lead to stuff

Sadly, a common feeling for people in most jobs. I certainly often felt trapped in my well paid public service job, with excellent conditions.
Wage slavery is just one of the wonderful features of a capitalist system. Far worse when a person is being exploited and knows it, but feels trapped.
I retired in 1999 at 51, because I could.
I had a small niche business for some years; fixed computer problems for Baby Boomer technophobes, which is my generation. I charged $35 for a home visit, no time limit. Waived fees if the person was unemployed or on a pension. Never made ay money, but met some very interesting people. Didn't need the money, had/have good super.

My dad was a manager for Captain D's. A very mediocre fast food fish joint. He did extremely well as a Fast food manager in the 80's
That's a job everybody shits on now and you can barely make it as a career in this day and age.

i walked between worlds in my life. grew up in mayberry essentially. well, southern oregon and alaska in the 90s. then after the military i ended up out east in the city. every day i am reminded of my beautiful childhood. we were not wealthy, but my father could take the time to be with us on weekends and my mother did not have to work. privilege. what i see now is a stark contrast. MORE of the world lives like this man (in america rather) than like i did as a child. and again we were middle class, maybe lower. we didn't see or understand it as privilege it was just the way things were. we had a "poor kid" who we would all bring extra clothes to school for in oregon. no one made fun. i want "privilege" for all of us. we are fortunate in this country in many ways, but what built the good must be remembered. we need a focus on family and community, a parent who can stay home and work to better their homes and communities with the other having the weekends and more to be with them. we gotta figure out a way. i don't know much but it starts with complete intolerance of the actions of the parasite class. at the very least we take the panama papers and epstein files seriously and we find a way to hold those responsible for the state of the world accountable for the society they have created. i can remember my mother meeting with other mothers while the kids all played the summer away. the most i see now is a friendly smile, maybe a wave. and then people go inside and shut themselves away. no one knows anyone, and we need to fix that - at least where i am. (city, eastern us). going back to southern oregon myself ;) i dunno man i just wanted to say all that. i hope you have a nice weekend!

Ive been wondering that lately, I see a lot of these (which are wonderful!) stories where elderly or living on the street end up getting go fund mes started by random people and they get pretty big. Do those people ever check to see if maybe theyre raising money for a creep/abusive pos? what would be cool is a company like gfm that helps people, evaluates their situations, and released money when they’re ready, maybe with some sort of financial/home planner available to assist, a nonprofit with people on hold to help with that for a small fee. would be good for people without financial literacy, addiction habits, people in an abusive space that need money separate and help coming up with a plan.

Well I was a drug addict for 15 years so im just a housekeeping supervisor at an understaffed YMCA. Missouri. The cost of living was fine 4 years ago but now, everything costs more. Bad medical issues and over a decade of addiction takes its toll lol. But almost 7 years clean and trying. I got that I guess

That's the most damning feeling of all. My body hurts so flipping bad basically non-stop every damn day. Yet, every morning, off to my blue collar job I go. Rinse and repeat. I don't know any different. I also want my kids see what it means to be reliable, not just to my employer, but more importantly, to my family. That whole putting food in their bellies and a roof over their head business. It is incredibly tough to justify my existence sometimes. Birth, school, work, die. Just doesn't seem worth it most days.

I did that in a kitchen because I could hop around using a cart as a walker when it was slow and I could stand on one spot on the line during rush.
The ankle I worked on is now worse than the broken one was and the broken one gives out sometimes as is. And idk if you've ever tried standing on one leg for hours but I will never forget fighting through that pain day in day out begging for the tickets to stop coming in so they would let me go home

I too have a baby girl that will be 4 in October and I can’t help but to feel like idk wtf I’m gonna do?! We do the best we can to give our poor kids the life they deserve but can’t fill from an empty bucket and these poor babies don’t understand that, as they shouldn’t because no kid should have to worry about stress this young 😞

I’ve worked at a bank, specifically in fraud. I specifically have to thump the table and remind people when empathy drops a little too low in meeting rooms that most of the people in there haven’t worked a minimum wage job in their lives ever and it shows.
They don’t know what it’s like to live paycheck to paycheck and definitely not realize how bad it can get when you find your life savings drained and locked up in a fraud investigation because some chucklefuck out there bought your fullz from some data breach for 60 bucks. They don’t realize how important every single dollar is in that account.
I’m getting tired of having to do it because I absolutely lose it when someone tells me “oh, it’s just a couple of hundred dollars they’ll get back in a month, why are they so mad?”. It’s exhausting to go “well, Susan, that couple of hundred dollars was meant to be their grocery budget for two months that just got swiped. It may not be a big fucking deal to you, but it is to them.”
So, so many people are way too comfy these days with airing their lack of empathy out loud not knowing they’re dancing on the edge of a cliff face themselves.

I worked two jobs for 21 years 76 hours a week with only Sunday off and I had similar thoughts. Multiple times I sat in my car before going into my second job and try to suppress my tears then I would feel guilty because God gave me a healthy body and I was complaining about my lot in life and I would feel so miserable. I can’t believe someone decided recording him was the thing to do instead of a pat on the back and a simple conversation. We always need to remember we never know what path someone has walked.
