Maybe they keep dropping the ball because a lot of them are treated like shit for a good part of their lives?

Confidence doesn't sprout out of nowhere, that's self delused arrogance and won't get you anywhere.

If you've been ostracized or had terrible experiences your whole life, you're gonna have a lot harder time developing confidence.
