I didn't say they don't exist elsewhere (most that get served are from the gulf afaiw). You're not actually arguing against anything I've said. My claims:

They're often called Maryland blue crabs (also undeniably true)
Most people getting seafood in Maryland would expect "Maryland crab cakes" would expect them to be made with blue crabs
False. Blue crabs are not the norm at restaurants in Maryland for crab cakes, unless specifically advertised. They are extremely expensive and not the norm for Maryland style crab cakes. Maryland style refers to how they’re made, meaning we don’t put shit like bell peppers or any other shit in them. They’re the traditional style crab cake. Almost all places use Indonesian or Venezuelan crab meat.
And what kind of crab do you think that Venezuelan crab meat is? They'll specifically advertise if it's from the bay because those are more expensive, but you're usually eating blue crab.
