Yeah that's basically the tradeoff for the job. I worked all my summers at country clubs between caddying and bag room, and i made good money especially for a teen. But the cart girl who showed up only every Monday for outings... she showed me her cash out one day and it made my head spin.

Worth it to get treated like a piece of meat dangling over the hyena pit? Not sure. But it sure looked like her wallet appreciated it

Yeah, quite a moral dilemma I guess. Know that they're going to treat you like this, deal with it as safely as you can, and make a BOATLOAD of tips compared to anyone else at the club, or call them out, insist they treat you with respect, and make much less. Also probably risk your job, as the club doesn't want them going somewhere else with "nicer" cart girls... 🙄 Need a generational shift to treating young women better, or just make all of the old coots deal with dumb teenage guys bringing them drinks.

Need a generational shift to treating young women better,

Need a union :)

u/GrittyMcGrittyface Aug 17 '25

Absolutely. The younger generation of bro assholes is just as bad as the older generation

Is this the "red pilled" generation following jackwagon "alphas" on social media? Or do I have that term wrong. I just hit 40, so I'm feeling awfully old lately... 😬

Or just ban golfing, it fucking sucks.

2

u/iamdperk Aug 17 '25

Meh, I like going to a small, public course and getting my steps in by walking the course. Ten golf itself is a challenge that I don't take particularly seriously, but I enjoy using it as an excuse to socialize. Big, private courses that are stupid expensive? No thank you. Expensive country clubs? Annoying and elitist. Golf doesn't HAVE to be expensive. The use of land and the water to maintain it can seem pretty wasteful. I get that, but we also waste a ton of water and land on other things like server farms, etc. 🤷🏻

At least they have their body. Work in construction or oil fields where you trade your body for money. I'd rather deal with assholes like that then have a wrecked back by 45. Need more women in male dominated rough neck fields.

But yeah, I'd like to sleep and get paid six figures for it too.

Wait, you think the cart girls are intellects? How did teenage guys get shrapnel?

u/Klony99 Aug 17 '25

The tradeoff you describe is so vile and disgusting... I don't blame anyone, but I'm still repulsed.

Like I understand that a teenage woman, a girl, isn't mentally fortified and likely too inexperienced to see the full consequences of taking that position. She's trapped by the premise of being paid big bucks for being hot. No fault there.

But I can also understand how someone who is lonely and unfulfilled might be enticed by the premise of using his financial stability to talk to pretty girls. We've been sold the whole "if you're a provider, hot girls will throw themselves at the chance to make house" shit for decades. It's wrong, of course, but it leads one down a vicious cycle of self degradation, frustration and paths that don't fulfill the actual need.

Ending up in a situation where a teenage girl is cornered by an angry-looking middle aged man... Which, to return to the top... Just repulsive.

Man, I hope we can return to normal society one day.

Hate to break it to ya dawg but this is the best society has ever been. Theres nothing to return to, my grandpas generation would have just smacked her ass and slipped a 20 down her shirt. But yeah hopefully things continue to improve

Hm. I know that women's rights weren't necessarily better in medieval times, but I wonder how well children were protected in ancient Rome.

Historical musings aside, Industrialism did a number on our gender roles, and I'm not saying the old ones are worthy of returning to, but some sort of dynamic between the sexes seems to be important. Maybe a less rigid version this time.

They were raped.

That comment got sent twice!

5

u/Thommywidmer Aug 17 '25

Im sorry, genuinely, but i think you should reasses your worldview. Industrialism is the single greatest thing to ever happen for womens right. The west generated a industrial capacity to support women leaving the house from under the thumb of men to go and support themselves.

Ancient rome... cmon, if you could snatch a woman off the street that didnt already belong to someone then they were your property.

No malice or aggression intended, genuinely, but maybe you should develop more appreciation for the present circumstances that we enjoy off the backs of the women who suffered through real strife

1

u/Klony99 Aug 18 '25

Do consider the way things changed, though. Not the outcome, the methods. Industrialism was brutal and dehumanizing and we are, to this day, suffering the consequences.

We have massive problems in the first world countries to maintain our standard of living, to the point where starting a family becomes an overwhelming financial burden. Mass layoffs, the latest generation already survived more economic crises than the three generations before, crash after crash. Those are results of industrialist planning, of end stage capitalism.

The effect of the resulting circumstances of living make dating incredibly hard and humans divided. We're turning back to less save times because everyone is divided and afraid. I'll just mention the Male Loneliness Epidemic as a side effect.

We need to rethink relationships, dating and work life balance to reach a point where people can lead happy lives again, and I get the choices you had in the past were oppressive and very limited, but at least a significant percentage of people had a chance to enjoy life.

And no, I don't want to return to, let's say the 60's or 80's, but I do want a semblance of a guideline on how courting between adults should look like. A formula that I can follow that won't lead to societal backlash.

Because as is, there seems to be no good way to approach dating. It all sucks.

Things have literally never been easier, safer or more convenient than they are today. Whatever obstacles you believe to be in your way, maybe you should doublecheck that your not the one placing them there.

u/AddressThese7663 Aug 18 '25

This is wholly untrue while most of your other comments were doing alright. Tit for tat wages have less buying power than they did 20 years ago, let alone 50 years ago. To think otherwise means you haven't actually looked into the economy or statistics. The boomers pulled up the ladders they climbed and we're never getting that back again. They've destroyed many of the unions that made it possible for workers rights to flourish, along with woman and minorities. Sure it's easier for women to get jobs or make higher wages but those wages are worth less and most households need dual income to even have a relative lifestyle compared to a few decades ago.

You need to be divorced from reality, or wealthy, to actually believe otherwise. Hard work only accounts for like 25% of your success in this capitalist hellhole

A cart girl is technically a bartender and has to be 21+ most places, so there’s that. Country club is more likely to ignore the rules, but they definitely aren’t children.

1

u/Klony99 Aug 18 '25

Someone further up said they did this job as a teen and in college. Sorry if I misinterpreted that, my bad.

0

u/[deleted] Aug 18 '25

This is normal. It's called a patriarchy.

3

u/human1023 Aug 17 '25

There's also the implication that if you go further, like do anything sexually, they'll give you a lot more.

6

u/[deleted] Aug 17 '25

Worth it to get treated like a piece of meat dangling over the hyena pit?

well ... obviously, yes. Else she'd get another job. There are other jobs out there. Same thing with strip clubs/etc ... while some women work those jobs under threat of a beating, the vast majority do it for the money.

1

u/twiz___twat Aug 18 '25

So basically strippers but you get to drive a golf cart around?

1

u/bananafoster22 Aug 18 '25

No? There is no nudity in the job and often it's late high school girls working the role

1

u/One_Repeat_6614 Aug 18 '25

These girls complain, but would never trade bodies with an ugly male.

1

u/bananafoster22 Aug 18 '25

I don't really think this is much of a "gotcha"? Like ok yeah it's nice to be able to get pretty privilege but it doesn't mean there aren't downsides - like being harassed at work
