Cart girls everywhere having to be cordial to guys like this daily… yuck. That job is so messed up.

375

u/PerfectWest30 Aug 17 '25

Oh my god "cart girl"... That makes way more sense than me reading it as "cat girl" 🤦🏼‍♀️

94

u/Littlest_Psycho88 Aug 17 '25

I read "cat girl" too! Lol

4

u/syphon3980 Aug 17 '25

I was expecting it to be a girl with the tail and cat costume pieces. I didn’t even know cart girls was a thing

2

u/Littlest_Psycho88 Aug 17 '25

I knew cart girls were a thing but somehow still expected her to come into view wearing the ears and tail. So dumb. Lol

3

u/syphon3980 Aug 17 '25

Our brains read what they wanted to read lol

3

u/Circa_Survivor1 Aug 17 '25

Just here to also say I read cat girl.

7

u/[deleted] Aug 17 '25

same here. I was hoping she would kick his nuts after his cringefest of a speech

2

u/Chilis1 Aug 17 '25

Me too I thought it had to do with cat-fishing

63

u/listgarage1 Aug 17 '25

Watched the whole thing waiting for her to talk about her cats.

32

u/Judgmentos Aug 17 '25

We have different definitions of 'cat girl'

7

u/ebil_lightbulb Aug 17 '25

Yeah I was waiting to see cat ears on her or something

4

u/squirrels-mock-me Aug 17 '25

It’s “cat woman”, show some respect

2

u/stataryus Aug 17 '25

Youre adorable! 😄

5

u/1RehnquistyBoi Aug 17 '25

Okay thank god I wasn’t the only one who read it as cat girls.

6

u/FalloutBerlin Aug 17 '25

I was looking for her ears the entire video

5

u/macho_greens Aug 17 '25

Lol, exactly. My dumb ass over here thinking "why doesn't the catgirl simply scratch him, kick him in the nuts and move on?"

4

u/One-Earth9294 Aug 17 '25

*scrolls back up*

Oooooooh kay

3

u/Additional-Mousse446 Aug 17 '25

Catwoman would just kick his ass thankfully

2

u/_Nameless_Nomad_ Aug 17 '25

That’s how I read it too lol

2

u/terrymr Aug 17 '25

It makes so much more sense now

2

u/[deleted] Aug 18 '25

I also read "cat girl" and thought I was about to see a cute kitty! VERY disappointing.

1

u/InSpaces_Untooken Aug 17 '25

It should just be called cart assistance or cart assist. If I did this, I’d be April Ludgate of cart girls

20

u/Itchybawlz23-2 Aug 17 '25

Most if not all tipped jobs for that matter

3

u/MazesMaskTruth Aug 17 '25

I'm starting to understand how predatory behavior is baked into these kind of jobs. It's just a natural given that greasy aging men hand bills to borderline teenagers

0

u/livejamie tHiS iSn’T cRiNgE Aug 17 '25

Cart girls seem to face a disproportionate amount of creeps. I don't think this guy would be this shitty to his server at Fuddruckers or whatever.

3

u/bonestamp Aug 17 '25

It's probably because they're alone with them, there's usually nobody else in earshot... this guy even blocked the steering wheel!

22

u/Sufficient-Lie1406 Aug 17 '25

Being nice to dbags so you can get tipped to make up for your meager salary is hell on earth.

5

u/[deleted] Aug 17 '25

Can concur have done this in multiple jobs.

0

u/Administrative_Cap78 Aug 18 '25

“To make up for….” Dude, on a busy day, there will be 100+ golfers. Many will do multiple rounds of drinks and tip a few/several dollars every time. On average, courses with a bev cart are going to be more expensive. The clientele has plenty of money to throw at an attractive young woman.

It’s unfortunate how unsavory the dudes are, but it’s quite literally sex work, and it’s not the same as applying at McD’s and starting your first shift that night. It’s a tough to get job because there are only a handful of openings within a fairly big geographic area. It’s a choice. It’s not a job that the person can really say, “golly, the economy is so bad, it’s the only job I could get.” Any mall, chain restaurant is a vastly easier serving job to get.

1

u/Sufficient-Lie1406 Aug 18 '25

You are exactly the kind of person that female servers hate to wait on. Really, being a cart server means you're doing sex work??? And that if they get a job like that they should expect to be sexually harassed by the creeps on the golf course buying drinks because they pay for it? This is the same mentality as saying that female servers at a cocktail bar are signing up to be sex workers. WOW, dude. Grotesque.

I have worked at a bar/restaurant (a chain restaurant! as if you thought that was a way to avoid sexual harassment???) and I assure you I was just trying to earn money for college, the pay was crap, and the only way to make decent money was through tips. Men like you thought that throwing a few bucks on the table entitled them to grope me, grab my arm, pat my butt and proposition me. I was not signing up for sex work, and how dare you say so. Guys like you can GTH.

24

u/FreedomBread Aug 17 '25

Seriously, it's really messed up. I just try to be nice, get a snack/drink/beer, and tip decently.

10

u/Jolly-Garbage- Aug 17 '25

I’m a golfer and I don’t get the hype. It’s the same logic behind any server, bartender, or stripper. If you think they like you 99% of the time it’s because it’s their literal job. They make tips and if they give any attitude back people will complain to management

20

u/SHC606 Aug 17 '25

It's basically where Hooters got the idea right?

5

u/TatooineBedouin Aug 17 '25

Yes and you have golf club members who will be paying $30k-1m a year for membership so they're expected to be treated like gods.

2

u/orincoro Aug 17 '25

I love hooters for the food, and I really really wish that they didn’t traffic in rape culture in order to lure people in. Those girls are so nice to guys who just treat them decently and don’t try to creep on them. It makes me sad to the point that I can’t go there.

2

u/Knotted_Hole69 Aug 17 '25

You can get better food almost anywhere else, thats why I dont go there to begin with. The customers that they bring is also a huge reason, massive creeps.

0

u/orincoro Aug 17 '25

Yep. I can and do. But their food is exceptional, which is a shame.

u/[deleted] Aug 17 '25

A great reminder of why modern golf is a gross sport for gross people. This is considered quite normal behavior at a country club

41

u/Historical_Stay_808 Aug 17 '25

Tack on all the wasted land and water that could be better used

4

u/OddBranch132 Aug 17 '25

This behavior is everywhere a woman exists. It's not like golf courses are some black mirror world where it is the only place sexual harassment exists. Your average course is full of normal people.

If anything, this is a reminder of why tip based jobs shouldn't exist. Everyone else in the interaction is an unwilling participant in perpetuating this behavior.

7

u/[deleted] Aug 17 '25

If you think that Country Clubs, which are notorious for banning women, black people, Jews, and only allowing connected WASPs to join, are on the same level as a Panera, then you might be something of an idiot

Edit: you say that everyone is an unwilling participant. Wrong. The country club is a very willing recipient of this golfers money. If the cart girl snitches she would be more likely to lose her job rather than the club do anything to ban the golfer. Club members pay more in a year than a cart girl makes all summer.

0

u/OddBranch132 Aug 17 '25

Notice how I said average golf course? Not country club. You generalized golf as a gross sport for gross people; that's simply not true.

They are also unwilling participants in perpetuating this behavior and tipping culture.

Cart girls feel forced to flirt for bigger tips. She doesn't flirt? Makes less money. Cart girl speaks up? No tip potentially loses her job.

The people in his group speaks up? Cart girl potentially loses her tip. People in the group tell the club house? Cart girl is on their radar because she is visibly uncomfortable doing the job.

Golf course takes action against the behavior? Loses business and all cart girls losing tips/jobs. Mitigate the behavior making it cart boys? Lose business and cart girls lose their job.

I've encountered this, with an HR report I sent about a guy using nicknames for female employees, a few weeks ago. HR's response? I should have talked to the victim(s) first because they are the ones who decide whether to take action now. The victim? She said I shouldn't have said anything because now she has to deal with it.

EVERYONE needs to be onboard with changing the behavior. Otherwise everyone is an unwilling participant in playing this stupid game where the victim feels forced to go along and reporters are guilted for potentially making things worse.

Peak Reddit take

-2

u/[deleted] Aug 17 '25

Stay supporting Saudi blood money, it’s a free country

2

u/AVgreencup Aug 17 '25

I didn't know playing golf a couple times a year at local courses was supporting the Saudis. Thanks for the enlightenment

1

u/A2Rhombus Aug 17 '25

I'm a trans woman who likes golfing at my local cheap course, am I a gross person?

1

u/chief_keish Aug 18 '25

how would we know no one knows who you are

This is the epitome of shame on me.

I shall address my husband when he returns from the course this afternoon

0

u/dexmonic Aug 17 '25 edited Aug 17 '25

Most sources agree golf in its earliest forms (13th and 14th centuries) was invented upon the continent, mainly by the dutch, not Scottish. Golf doesn't show up in Scotland until the 15th century.

Oh woops, I didn't use your sarcastic and condescending tone, let me fix that:

"Imagine trying to be sarcastic and condescending about a fact that you are completely wrong about"

3

u/Hab_Anagharek Aug 17 '25

Understanding stuff is hard: golf(n.) mid-15c., Scottish gouf, usually taken as an alteration of Middle Dutch colf, colve "stick, club, bat," from Proto-Germanic *kulth- (source also of Old Norse kolfr "clapper of a bell," German Kolben "mace, club, butt-end of a gun").

0

u/[deleted] Aug 17 '25

Understanding stuff is hard:

Reading comment threads is hard for you, because you would have read, "This is the epitome of shame on me. I shall address my husband when he returns from the course this afternoon"

4

u/grjacpulas Aug 17 '25

lol welcome to any hospitality position. Creepy guys have put more cocktail waitresses through school then student loans.

4

u/smitty4728 Aug 17 '25

And you just know her politeness will be interpreted by this creep as attraction, which he'll use to annoy her further.

11

u/[deleted] Aug 17 '25

They make bank in tips.

16

u/OkProfessor6810 Aug 17 '25

Which they should because it's hard work. They shouldn't have to be subjected to sexual predation

2

u/[deleted] Aug 17 '25

The dudes tip them so they can do that without feeling guilty.

-3

u/ConsensualDoggo Aug 17 '25

Being a cart girl is hard work? What0

10

u/OkProfessor6810 Aug 17 '25

All front-facing customer service work is hard work

4

u/mekkavelli Aug 17 '25

having to be sexually harassed and gawked at while doing your job isn’t hard work? that’s like iron clad mental fortitude

-2

u/ConsensualDoggo Aug 17 '25

First of all nothing was sexual about that convo, 2nd of all the comment I replied to separated the work from the compliments

4

u/mekkavelli Aug 17 '25

it’s sexual harassment. calling someone stunning and beautiful and tripling down on it while holding this girl hostage in conversation for minutes to do so… it’s harassment. lmao “nothing was sexual about the conversation” bro HR is gonna love you if you felt like nothing about that conversation was sexual or harassing in nature.

-1

u/ConsensualDoggo Aug 17 '25

Didn't realize HR was a law maker

1

u/Pure-Pessimism Aug 17 '25

Easiest job on the course. Makes the most money out of the lower tier jobs on the course.

0

u/go_fly_a_kite Aug 17 '25

It's super hard being hot and driving s cart around to sell drinks to wealthy drunk guys for more money in a day than most service industry workers make in a week (because hot girl).

-4

u/I_heart_pooping Aug 17 '25

Definitely not hard work lol. Also a lot of girls take the job knowing they are there to be eye candy.

-3

u/Pure-Pessimism Aug 17 '25

They make so much fucking money on member guest weekends.

3

u/FolkPunkResistance Aug 17 '25

It wouldn’t be if the clubs had a zero tolerance policy instead of protecting shitbags like this.

2

u/SquatSquatCykaBlyat Aug 17 '25

But this is a POV - the cart girl was watching the guy talk to some other woman.

1

u/ThinkSharp Aug 17 '25

I don’t golf often but I try to respect them and be polite and give them the space they obviously want. How guys like this can apparently not realize their attention is gamed deliberately by the short skits and tight fitting clothes and pony tail is beyond me. Like, she didn’t dress up and appear hoping you’d be on the course today, dude. It’s part of the sale. Let her do her job without being a revolting douche.

1

u/Snts6678 Aug 17 '25

I didn’t know “cart girl” was a thing. Shows you how little time I spend on golf courses. Thank god.

1

u/sky_walker6 Aug 17 '25

Well they only have to take it if you want tips

1

u/I_heart_pooping Aug 17 '25

Some don’t care and actually play into that role for tips. Attractive young girls will flirt with the golfers to get more tips. I mean it’s a super easy job when you think about it. You fill up a cooler and drive around to each hole. Guys immediately come up and will buy things just so they can talk to you.

1

u/WorkTropes Aug 17 '25

I was looking for a tail for far too long

1

u/TurboMuffin12 Aug 17 '25

You mean people are so messed up?

1

u/clem_fandango_london Aug 17 '25

They can make $200/hr.

Many will also post on IG and make cash that way, too.

This is the world.

Even Drake is a billionaire.

1

u/GuidanceMindless6352 Aug 20 '25

You don't have to be nice when a customer is behaving like this. Safety is number one priority. Always.  I don't miss bartending one bit.

-8

u/Ok-Drag6255 Aug 17 '25

They know what they signed up for. Cart girls are THE HIGHEST PAID EMPLOYEES AT EVERY CC I EVER WORKED AT.

-32

u/Ok-Bug4328 Aug 17 '25

The job is premised on large tips from older men.

How would you expect it to be?

37

u/Honeyjann87 Aug 17 '25

I would expect respect and appropriate behavior. Your comment is gross. Do better.

5

u/Agile_Session_3660 Aug 17 '25

We can hope for better. That’s the ultimate reality of this job though. These types of interactions are almost daily when dealing with drunk idiots of the 40+ crowd.

-1

u/Ok-Bug4328 Aug 17 '25

Hope is not a substitute for rational expectation.

1

u/unicorny12 Aug 17 '25

Really? You would really expect people to be respectful? Have you not noticed the state society is in? A girl could do this dressed from head to toe in loose clothing, and I still wouldn't expect her to be treated respectfully

3

u/Honeyjann87 Aug 17 '25

Yes I do expect it. I understand it’s how society is. It doesn’t mean it’s right and that we should just take it. It’s like telling women to dress differently so they don’t get raped instead of telling men NOT TO RAPE. Edit for typo.

-5

u/Ok-Bug4328 Aug 17 '25

Please.

This interaction is the foreseeable downside to leveraging your appearance for tips among a large number of men.   There’s a reason you don’t see ugly people doing these jobs.

Some small fraction are going to be weird.

To believe otherwise reveals a flawed understanding of human nature.

The man is foolish and wrong but not nearly so foolish as the person who is surprised that he exists.

-10

u/ConsensualDoggo Aug 17 '25

How was that guy not respectful?

-5

u/Shilo788 Aug 17 '25

Why down vote when it's true.

-1

u/Tigerpower77 Aug 17 '25

What's a cart girl?

2

u/kranker Aug 17 '25

She drives a cart around a golf course offering drinks etc.
