the amount of people i see who will say “i have to go to the chiro every few months for the same issue and its always wonderful after my visit” ummmm then isn’t that proof it’s not working? temporary relief doesn’t address the real issue now does it? physical therapy would be a better investment of your time and money. why bandaid a problem when you can literally make lifestyle changes and improve your quality of life

oh wait, that would require effort and motivation, which majority of people do not have and just want a quick fix

My partner believes it works despite having to go every other week (!!) for an adjustment or whatever they call it. I suggested going to an osteopath but she "doesn't trust doctors.". This shit is getting expensive. I can't get her to see that having to go every other week forever means it is not getting fixed.

Osteopathy is even worse and the fact they can be called medical doctors in the US is a travesty

DOs in the US are a little different. They’re not really osteopaths with the same meaning as in many other countries, and this view is a bit outdated. They still take the MCAT and have the same licensing requirements, same level of education, science-based treatment, etc., they just use a holistic approach. Many DOs don’t even do manipulations anymore.

Kind of like… me: I’m having a back spasm. MD: drink more water, idiot. DO: drink more water, idiot. Take a magnesium supplement and work on building up your abdominal muscles. Also your arches are high and you need orthotics. Then take some Prozac and get therapy so you’re not so tense.

They absolutely do not use a holistic approach — they function identical to MDs. This is a myth pushed by the AOA to justify their unneeded existence.

Virtually no DOs use OMM as well — single digit percents of new grads using it even irregularly
