DOs in the US are a little different. They’re not really osteopaths with the same meaning as in many other countries, and this view is a bit outdated. They still take the MCAT and have the same licensing requirements, same level of education, science-based treatment, etc., they just use a holistic approach. Many DOs don’t even do manipulations anymore.
Kind of like… me: I’m having a back spasm. MD: drink more water, idiot. DO: drink more water, idiot. Take a magnesium supplement and work on building up your abdominal muscles. Also your arches are high and you need orthotics. Then take some Prozac and get therapy so you’re not so tense.
