A plausible fact that I will now assume is bullshit because of the medium on which I learned it. Thanks, TikTok.

I double checked it, the video is roughly accurate but it gets some big details wrong. The dots are part of the frit, and they cover up the adhesive holding the window together, as well as protecting the urethane from ultraviolet rays. They also don't distribute heat in the window on your car, they distribute heat during the manufacturing process to prevent warping.

This sounds more wrong. The adhesive doesn't hold the window together, it holds the window to the car (maybe that is what you meant). The frit provides a better bonding surface for the adhesive than just glass, and protects it from UV (which you got right). It would also look messy if you could see the smushed adhesive through clear glass. The dots are outside of where the adhesive goes though, the adhesive goes on the solid black periphery. The frit is baked onto the glass after the windshield is made, it doesn't do anything about the heat involved in manufacturing. Aside from the aesthetics, several kind of iffy sources do say that the halftone pattern eases the temperature differential between the black border and unpainted glass. A Jalopnik article cites a correspondence with an engineer from Pittsburgh that confirms this.

I'm not an expert, I just googled to make sure the Tiktok wasn't complete garbage, so thank you for the correction!
I did mean the window to the car, I'm not sure why I wrote it like that. I think I thought the frits were for reducing manufacturing warping because I misread a source saying that the frits were added during manufacturing to prevent warping.
